wanderingback, have you heard anything negative about www.elevatedaccess.org? I've been following a pilot from there on socials for a while. They provide transportation support for abortion and gender affirming care.

Michelle, There are funds and orgs that have partnered with them, there doesnt seem to be anything negative out there that we have encountered. This is exactly the type of assistance that the provider on my board wanted after the Dobbs decision but we knew it comes with a lot of vetting and risk.

Yes. Well I’ve never personally worked with them but they are listed as a resource among orgs I trust. My dad is actually a pilot and owns a plane so I told him about it. He still works full time so hasn’t gotten involved but maybe in the future
Awesome - i didn't see them in the pinned list above and had been giving them $ because it tackled two issues I am concerned about as a Texas resident. I happened to come in here to confirm some info and noticed they weren't listed. Can we add them?
My daughter came home from school today and asked me if I would help her get a PG test for a friend. I know no details and my DD knows no details, she was simply passed a note in school by her friend asking for a test.
Friend is middle eastern and comes from a super traditional, conservative family. She is not allowed to go out alone, she is driven everywhere, her brothers chaperone her, etc. Out of the friend group, she is only allowed to go to one girls house because the other girl is also Muslim, although her family is not at all as restrictive/conservative. My house is not on the approved list for Friend to visit because her parents have met me but not my husband. All this to say, that if the test is indeed for her and turns out positive, this will be a bad situation. (I can’t imagine a situation where Friend would be the middle man in obtaining the test for someone else where the situation would be any better)
DD and I just got her an early result digital test and I had DD read the complete instructions because this is going to take place tomorrow in the school bathroom between exams so DD is going to have to be the calm one guiding her through this.
If it turns out positive. I need to figure out how to guide/counsel this young girl (she’s 17) or at least guide my daughter on how to help. I’m guessing Plan B is no longer an option. If she chooses to terminate, a medical abortion would obviously be the easiest since getting her to a clinic would be difficult. If she were to have a medical abortion, would she be able to take to pills tomorrow and then get through the weekend without her parents becoming suspicious? Is there pain or side effects? Does she need to go in person to get the pills prescribed? Does she need to see a doctor or can a pharmacists prescribe a medical abortion? What am I not thinking of, what else do I need to be prepared for? I also need to make sure she comes to terms with her decision so that she has no regrets no matter what happens, do you have any resources for that. Sending her texts, links, pamphlets etc is absolutely out—her parents and brothers check everything.
We live in Michigan so access/laws are no problem. The biggest problem is fear for her safety and the need for absolute privacy due to her family situation.
ETA: Ok,did some googling and see that she would indeed need to get a prescription from a doctor and then Have a follow-up appointment to make sure everything cleared. I think getting her to the doctor once would be doable but twice would be difficult without raising suspicion. Do you know if doctors ever just call in a prescription and then follow-up in person? Also, I would be very worried about doing anything in her name. Is there anyway I could pick up a prescription at a pharmacy or clinic? She absolutely cannot have any text messages, mailed bills or any calls to her phone.
Also, want to know what the kicker is? Friend’s older sister is in medical school but Friend won’t ask her for help because Friend doesn’t trust her sister not to rat her out. Sister resents Friend because sister thinks that as the baby of the family, Friend had it a lot easier at home. Sister has an equally restrictive lifestyle despite being in medical school. (She lives at home and drives 90 minutes each way to medical school)

Also a lot of your questions are very common and maybe I should post more in here. But long story short people can get pills by mail in all 50 states and you do not need an ultrasound or any other testing before or after taking the pills.
Young people and people in domestic violence situations are obviously very tricky in some cases due to privacy concerns but there are a lot of ways to help/work around that. If anyone ever needs to PM me about a situation please do so and I will help.
