I’m glad he was convicted. I would have felt some kind of way if only the mother was convicted and I think they both should be.
I thought the headphones were to aid hearing. WP posted an article a while back that showed Republican men suffer from more hearing loss. There are several reasons why, but recreational firearms were mentioned.
I have sympathy for anyone dealing with children with mental health issues because the US healthcare system is so shitty, especially in that regard, and I don’t love the idea of holding guardians culpable for teens actions in a lot of cases, but this passed the threshold. To have an unsecured weapon and ammo in the house with a struggling child is inviting disaster. It’s like giving your little kid keys to drive your car and being surprised if they get in an accident. If only we could have better gun control laws like we do for car safety laws.
I found this interesting - the parents are denying the son access to pre-trial reports. I wonder what the concern is since he presumably already knows anything they contain. Sorry or the long link.
I guess it tracks. This child asking for help from his parents and these parents denying it.
It could be spite. They blame him for their prison time. They blame him so much that they don’t want him getting a chance at parole. After two trials, I wonder if they take any blame for themselves?
I think there is something in the report that they don’t want revealed to him or revealed to the public - or both. It might not be something that would bother me. But it bothers each of them enough to want it kept sealed.
I have such visceral hard feelings against these parents. It hasn’t softened at all.
