My partner has been out of town working all week. Today we’re headed to a conference for work for me. It didn’t make sense for him to come back so he’s going to meet us on the train. He has enough points so he upgraded our tickets on the Acela. As soon as he gets on I’m handing over our daughter, switching my seat to another row and asking for champagne stat! The food is also good on the train so looking forward to seeing what those options are too

Safe travels! I slept until 9 which I haven’t done in probably 15 years. I am still dealing with respiratory issues, so today is day one of a daily vibrating vest to clear my lungs. Once I do that for 30 plan is to work out, figure out summer camp for DS, laundry and then hockey. I leave tomorrow afternoon for 48 hours in LA for work so need to get DS organized for school as well.
My mom and I saw Toto and Journey last night. Toto was awesome, but wow Journey wasn’t good. The sounds was all off and their lead singer was really just odd. I’m guessing it’s a culture thing since he’s not American. Come back Steve Perry.
So I’m dragging and hosting E’s birthday at 11 at the trampoline place. Lots of people haven’t RSVP’d so no clue who is going to show up.
A tornado rolled through our area yesterday and the neighborhood just to the north of us is completely wiped out. It’s shocking how little damage (some fencing) we had and literally half a mile away is demolished. Roads are restricted in our area, so I’m planning to stay put. (It took a lot of time and creative planning to get home last night) So grateful that we’re ok, and praying for those struggling in our town. Unfortunately there’s another round of storms heading this way later today.

Last night we went to the high school band pops concert and DD played at intermission.
They do skits between songs. Some were funny. Many made no sense. They leaned heavily on falling on the ground (ouch), and boys dressing as girls. It was such high school humor lololol. We enjoyed it but DD plays again tonight and I don't need to see it twice lol.
This whole weekend is rainy and dreary. Blah. I think I'm going to go shopping for spring/summer clothes.
Busy weekend here! This afternoon I am ushering for "Stomp", which I am kind of regretting because it's too much time but I am also looking forward to because it sounds like a fun show and I've never seen it. Then we're meeting friends at a brewery in town for dinner/drinks this evening.
Tomorrow my H and I are driving 2 hours each way to go to a NASCAR event, lol. We do NOT follow NASCAR but when we lived in Iowa it was one of the few professional competitive events that we could go to, so we went every year we were together and it was actually pretty fun. This will be our second time going on the east coast. Truthfully I could also just as easily skip it, but my H really enjoys it so it's a fun day getting out and doing something together. It's always some interesting people watching, too.
In between I'm trying to get some grading done. I'll be kind of glad when this class I'm teaching is over in 2 weeks - I do enjoy seeing what the students created but I'm tired of having something else that I need to make time to do in my free time.

Im getting ready to workout, then need to do laundry so I’m ready to pack tomorrow for my work trip.
Im supposed to go to dinner with a friend tonight, but she hasn’t responded to my text asking where we’re going. We’re not meeting til 6:30 so she has some time, but I’m being impatient, lol.

Today is my penultimate infusion appointment! I feel like I’ve been a one trick pony these last few weeks but so relieved an end is in sight. I have a hair cut and color this afternoon that is long overdue also and it’s in the same shopping center of a Chinese restaurant that I love, so egg rolls are in my immediate future!
My late stepmother’s brooches arrived in the mail yesterday, just in time for what would have her birthday today and several of them are just lovely.
My absolute new favorite is a cloisonné butterfly that matches perfectly to so many blouses I already own.

My friend took an early train back and I stayed around to wander Manhattan. I got rainbow bagels, Bonbon candy, Levain cookies and banana pudding from Magnolia.
And the bellhop asked for my phone number so I still got it 😂💅🏼
It's DS' 8th birthday today so naturally he was awake at 6:15am ready for his one promised present from H and me before his party this afternoon. He already built his Cloud Cuckoo Land Palace set and now he's happily watching The Lego Movie 2 while eating chocolate pancakes.
He is getting a haircut in an hour which he won't be thrilled about but it is seriously overdue because the entire month of April is so busy every year... every weekend has something!

I woke up this morning with an itch to clean. I’ve been at it since 8am and now I’ve hit a wall and the house is torn apart. I took down all the curtains and H ran them to the dry cleaners. All the bedding is stripped and being washed, including mattress covers and the dog bed. I cleaned the coffee pot, the cat’s water fountain and my humidifier with vinegar so that is all taken apart and drying. The vents from the range hood are soaking in degreaser. I haven’t actually “cleaned” any of the house yet… like vacuum, dust, mop, bathroom etc. I think I’m just going to finish up laundry so I can put the beds back together and then run the vacuum and call it a day. The bathrooms and mopping can be done tomorrow. Or next weekend, LOL.

I'm working on getting all my plants accustomed to the outside this week and next, and hoping that there is a break in the rain tomorrow, so I can plant out my tomatoes (they'll go under cover at night). I've started the C25K programme and did a run today. And we're heading out shortly for a date night that I planned. I hope the H enjoys it (whisky and steak and sex toy shopping). LOL.
Our weekend is blissfully empty. We were supposed to travel 4 1/2 hours to a wrestling tournament, but ds decided he didn't want to do it since no one from our team was going to be wrestling in the afternoon session with him. It's a good thing he decided not to go since he is sick again (he is a walking cold this time of year for some reason, 4th one since mid-March) and we woke up to 8 inches of snow and it's still snowing.
I'm hoping we will start demo on one of the cabins we plan to remodel. H always waits until the last minute to start these projects and it always makes me super nervous that we won't be ready for the busy season.

Why are people like this!
We had a kid disappear from our troop. She acted like a fool at an overnight, got mad when my co-leader and I put a thumb on her and told her to knock it off, left early, and missed 2 months of meetings after that.
Her stepmom started emailing me this week about all the meetings she had missed and that she still wants to be in the troop and still wants to bridge with us. I let her know a list of 2 things that needed to happen this week to get back on track - I needed her to give me RSVP numbers for the ceremony and we needed to schedule a time to do a pick up/drop off for materials for the ceremony. She said Friday works best. I said fine, what time?
No answer. Friday came. Friday went. No communication.
This morning, “Sorry, I’ll come by today!” The hell you will. Im not living my life waiting for you. I dumped everything on the front step and said come by and get it, leave the stuff you’re bringing me in the mailbox. We’re not home today.
Ran home between things for lunch - still hasn’t been by.
Like, I know you’re not coming. Stop being rude and just quit.
Softball game last night. Up early today to chaperone a band contest from 7-11. Now off to the last softball game of the season. Cannot wait to be done with that. Music>>sports
We played the Oregon Trail card game for the first time and I died from cholera and exposure. Both my kids (10 and 14) got verklempt about me dying and my son actually got teary writing my epitaph.
That was decidedly unexpected. 😅
Tonight my husband and daughter are going to a concert, so my son and I are having a movie marathon and getting outrageous fancy sundaes.
Oh, also. My girl is trying out for a couple high school sports. I mentioned that this may involve changing and showering in a locker room (a thing I regularly for swimming from age like 10, but she has never done). She was horrified. She declared that "the only people who ever need to see my butt are my doctor and my future partner."
Super busy week last week, resulted in a few late nights/early mornings and significantly reduced sleep. Slept like crap again last night.
We’re out of town for a soccer tournament this weekend, and the team is playing pretty well! Parents are also in good spirits. I’m just so fucking tired.
My boss gave me a high-priority assignment this week (and maybe next) that will result in some travel and additional work, and prevents me from doing my normal workload, which I’ve had to hand off to my team. It’s a super-inconvenient time for something like this, but I guess it’s a good thing that my boss trusts me to do this project, and I know I’ll knock it out of the park. I’m just so fucking tired!
We went to a yarn festival in the morning in Western Maryland and a little gift shop was having a crochet class nearby so we did that too! And went to a Filipino bakery for some pandan treats.
I figure my dad is safe in the hospital so may as well get out and do something while we can. Who knows what next week will look like.
What was supposed to be a pretty busy Saturday has evaporated. DS 2 woke up with a sore throat and a runny nose, so no D&D, and Kid 1 got a text from their archery coach that the center is closed today so no lessons. I'm currently hanging out at home with DS since he's bummed about missing time with his buddies, and Kid 1 is at the art supply store with H buying either epoxy or resin to make a model fish aspic as a gift for their theatre teacher.
The aspic is from a monologue they did earlier this year, and I'm assured that the teacher will love it. I am... skeptical.
We have a charity gala tonight at 6. Got my hair and makeup done at 11am, and it looks awesome. DS said I looked "so much prettier" and that I looked "like someone else." Uh, thanks? Definitely would have preferred a later appointment, but I wanted one particular person to do it and that was what was available. So now I've had to sit around all afternoon trying not to mess it up, lol. I wish I could nap. Just sitting on my computer working on meal planning and getting some laundry done until it's time to go.
I can't get warm today. I can't wait for it to be in the 80s tomorrow.

It’s our planting weekend! My favorite time of year. Went to two nurseries and spent a lot of money but my yard makes me happy. Now to finish mulching and then starting to put our container pots together.
My friend is a personal trainer and just started an 8 week session focused on fencing. I said I was interested. But it’s on Sundays at 1pm. And, Sunday is my only unscheduled day. I promised I’d go to the first one. And, as an act of support, I signed up for the whole session, but also told her straight up I may or may not make it.

It’s shocking how little damage (some fencing) we had and literally half a mile away is demolished. Roads are restricted in our area, so I’m planning to stay put. It’s devastating. I can’t believe how big and strong these storms were. Glad you are all safe.

I’d be so excited of someone made me a fake aspic! It sounds like a sweet and thoughtful gift.

Blustery day here. I took DD to get her hair cut, and then we went to value village and Trader Joe’s. I’m currently eating Brie, grapes, and crackers until we need to go look at some plants in an hour.
DS has a baseball game this afternoon, and since it’s kind of rainy, we need to get umbrellas out. I need lots of layers because I’ll get super cold. I’m already planning a bath tonight. Lol
DH is looking to change jobs. He’s likely going back to his old company, for about a 40% raise, so he is working on some paperwork they need. If he doesn’t go there, there’s a similar position and pay he’s being considered for. I’m kind of excited for him! He’ll be moving into a principle type role, which he’s definitely earned.

I'm trying to find something fun for us to do tonight as a family and everything is like a million dollars. Why does everything have to be so expensive?
