Some boards use spoiler tags to let people post long blocks of text that have to be clicked on to see them. It's great when there is lots of quoting -- you can even configure the board to insert the spoiler tags automatically to hide quotes of quotes of quotes, etc.

eta: That doesn't really have a lot to do with what you were asking for, I realize. I was just afraid that if people saw the spoiler tags they would use them in spoiler-y threads (like books or tv shows) and then anyone browsing on the app would be able to see all of it.

Hmmm, good point ... if it only works on the desktop that's kind of pointless. I mean it would make sense for quoting but wouldn't for movie/book/TV spoilers. Oh well, worth a try.
