One of my students wrote that one of the weaknesses of my class was that I don't hand out notes. I expect them to write their own notes. That they "are not typewriters, we are DESIGNERS" and this dick complained of hand cramps.
BUCK THE FUCK UP.
I am officially burnt out. Fuck you guys. Merry Christmas :drink:

Hilarious, and sadly I am not surprised. I had a talk with DD about taking notes and she said the teachers always pass them out so they never have to take notes themselves. This kills my faith in the education of our children. I am really hoping that they at least have to figure it out next year in high school.

I know who it was, this girl just didn't like me. which is fine, because I wasn't too fond of her either. And a couple of her friends wrote little bitchy things too. Like, hello, I grade your exams, I know whose handwriting that is, dork.

also- typewriter? hahahaaaa.
I explained to them- taking notes helps you to sort out the most important information. What the hell! I am seriously, clear as a bell, I say "this is what I'd remember about Native North America in general" "this is what's important about the Gothic style" I speak in catch phrases. So, um, I guess you didn't read the book at all, huh?

Everything else was nice, though!
If only they WERE typewriters, their evaluations would be anonymous. What dumbasses.
I'm so over students at this time of the year. I just had one email me complaining that his professor didn't care about "connecting with students" because she refused to arbitrarily raise his grade after the end of the semester. Uh, duh, asshole.

Professor, what do you think of the "flipped classroom" concept? Would it work for your classes? I'm curios because it sounds like a great idea to me but I'm not an instructor.

I bet this student also made zero effort to connect with said professor as well. Two way street sweetie. derp
The first time I heard from the guy about his grade was after final grades had been posted. So Imma go with yup.
Don't worry, though. I'm a good professor who knows how to connect with students, because instead of giving him the D+ that his 69.45% earned, I had (before he contacted me) rounded up to a C-. Good to know I'm qualified!

omg i would choke this person.
i had a professor (paleontology to be specific, not easy in the least) who not only expected you to take notes, but if you dared to miss her class, she would provide you with false information about whatever subject was taught that day. so you'd show up to her exam (which were mostly multiple choice....except choices a-k and l was "none of the above, write in an answer") thinking you knew everything, only you were wrong. i did not miss her class ever. lol
I teach in a high school and am constantly asked by students/parents to have copies of all notes and lectures posted online for students to be able to print out prior to class so they won't have to write anything down. It will not get better I am afraid....
Seriously? That's disappointing. Taking notes is part of how you learn and remember. Can't they bring a laptop and type if they can't write that fast? If you don't have to write it down, what's to say that they even READ what you give them?

My friend is a teacher and said one of her mom's from her students class (3rd grade) complained that her sons hand was cramping a lot from writing. She was soo concerned and wanted to know what they could do to resolve this problem asap.
