I have several kids at various times through the week, as I do home daycare. Well, one of them has hand-foot-and-mouth disease this week. (For anyone not familiar with it, you just break out with little bumps that are pretty tender on the hands, feet, mouth, sometimes butt, not really too much to worry about) I thought it wouldn't be a big deal, I dealt with another case of it a couple months back. Well, I indulged DH in some... oral action... last night. Woke up & on our way to his work (I dropped him off) I notice I have some painful little bumps on my fingers. He says, "Well, I am sure I will get it, then." (we weren't thinking along the same lines yet) I gave him a grin & said, "YUP! and I know RIGHT where you will be getting it too!" ;D

I seriously hope you are fucking around because that shit is painful. I couldnt eat, could barely swallow liquids and had blisters on my feet so it was very uncomfortable to wear shoes or walk. I got it when I was a nanny for a little girl.

Seriously! I had it for my 10th birthday. We were on vacation and had reservations for a fancy brunch and I couldn't eat a fucking thing.

Well, in my defense, I didn't know till this morning when his mom called me... this kid is allergic to EVERYTHING, so we thought it was hives from the grass... So sorry to hear some of you all had horrible experiences, mine just feels like I ate a few too many sunflower seeds... :-(

If you're a DCP, you should probably educate yourself a little bit more on communicable diseases because you're the only person I've ever seen write HFM as no big deal.

You thought it wouldn't be a big deal... and now you just found out today? Uh huh.
Well, I have no idea how old she is or how you know, so no.
Edit: And now I look crazy. You're on my list, huber.
Sorry.
I felt bad about something stupid today, and I thought it would be bitchy to say something to someone else.
Well you mentioned it further up, too. Also, I don't see anywhere how old she is so of course no one's going to comment on is. There are bigger fish to fry, anyway.

From the Mayo Clinic's website:
When to see a doctor Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is usually a minor illness causing only a few days of fever and relatively mild signs and symptoms. Contact your doctor, however, if mouth sores or a sore throat keep your child from drinking fluids. Contact your doctor also if after a few days, your child's signs and symptoms worsen.
You can die from rare complications, but... you can also die from complications that come with a cold... Sorry if I still seem dumb, but, I am thinking that as long as you aren't dehydrated, malnourished, or running too high of a fever, it's not really a huge deal.

I didnt say it was fatal but it hurts like a bitch. Like I mentioned it was painful to put shoes on because i had blisters all over my feet and in between my toes so it hurt to walk. I also had blisters all on the inside of my mouth so it was uncomfortable to eat most things or swallow and even brush my teeth. I had blisters all over my hands too that was all sorts of fun.
