I usually post over on the military families page. When we were on TN I posted on Pets a couple of times. Anyway, I'm fundraising for my 2 year old doxie/chi mix. He was inured over Memorial Day weekend and ended up with a tear in his trachea near his larynx. He's been in the ICU at a nearby vet school since last thursday due to his subcutaneous emphysema. At this point we're unsure if we are going to do a surgical repair. He was getting worse and now he improved slightly since yesterday. I have applied to many nonprofit orgs for help and now am reaching out to the community, friends, and family for help. I'm currently near the 2,000 dollar mark on vet bills. They could reach as high as 4,000 dollars or more.
I know this community has pulled together many times for many different reasons. I truly appreciate any support may it be financial or emotional.

If you're not already aware of it, there's something called Care Credit. It's a credit card/line of credit for use on medical payments (human or animal), and it always has some sort of 0% intro APR. For any money you're unable to raise for your sweet pup, you may be able to use Care Credit.
Sending lots of T&Ps for your pup's recovery and that you're able to get the help you need.

I hate to snark b.c. its good that you guys are being responsible and getting him taken care of. And I'm sorry he's injured. I get how vet bills add up, my boy dog cost us about $3,000 in vet bills the first month we had him and we've had to do $2,000 surgery on one of our cats before. It sucks, but that's kind of the realm of pet ownership, it is our responsibility when owning them to pay for medical treatment they need. And it is kind of offensive to go on a board of people you don't know and ask them to financially support your pet who you are supposed to be responsible for. Most of us spend a lot of our own time and money taking care of abandoned animals as well as our own.
This really rubs me the wrong way. Sell something, get care credit, but fulfill the commitment you made to your pet. If I'm going to donate money I'll do it for a rescue or shelter that helps homeless and abandoned animals, not the pet of someone who doesn't care to fulfill the financial commitment they entail.
Lemon - you might want to cross post on MF. You might get a better/more positive response from folks that "know" you, rather than on a board where you are not a regular.
Good luck! I know it's one of those "every dollar helps" kinda situations.
Thank you. I realize people don't know me here even though I lurked on TN and have been a member of TN for three years. I asked a lot of strangers for help. Churches, organizations, etc are all strangers. I thought people who are passionate about animals would be a good bet.
I applied to multiple foundations and three actually reached out to me and two have already given me/the school clinic grants. The vet school actually wrote a lot off because the vet student is using Oliver as a case study. There are some on that list that I haven't applied to and I will be looking at the requirements and applying to more. Oliver came home today as his emphysema has shown some improvement without surgery. With that said, my current OOP is 1,200.
Thanks!
ETA: I sold my wedding rings and a tv and applied that money to his bills as well.
Also, my clinic does not take care credit but I applied to it before knowing.
I was in a better place when I got/adopted my dogs. I actually left my emotionally abusive husband this past February while maintaining my 32hr a week job and being a full time student. You're right, you shouldn't have animals if you can't afford them. Unfortunately, situations change. I'm sorry if my post was in bad taste. It was not meant to be and I gain some resources in the process.
