Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had some recommendations for books with steamy scenes? I'd like to dip my toes in a bit, but I'm not looking for hardcore erotica or straight up smut. I'd prefer something that has a real plot/message/other themes with some instances of sexuality, not just 200 straight pages of sex. I don't think I'm ready for that
The only example that I've read recently that would be comparable to what I'm looking for is Like Water for Chocolate/Como agua para chocolate. I found that I really enjoyed the book and have been thinking of many other more 'literary" themes, but I also liked the scandalous episodes. The sex was necessary for the exploration of themes etc., but it was still fun to read by itself.
the ones that come to my mind right now are the Outlander and Fever series. Lots of other stuff happens in between and grounding the really hot sex. But some of that other stuff can be rough at times, depending on what kind of things bother you.
Nora Roberts might be an option, too. I really liked Sanctuary by her- more of a hot thriller/mystery than a romance.

Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward, Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian, the Fever books are good too. I just read the first two Nora Roberts' Inn Boonsboro books and loved them.

Thanks for all of the suggestions-- I think that the Nora Roberts and Paullina Simmons will be the best bet for me. Strangely enough, my library has the books 1 and 3 of Tatiana and Alexander, book 2 in Polish, and no copies of book 4.
I haven't finished The Summer Garden yet either. however, that's more of an emotional thing with me. reading the book was actually depressing me. I'll probably pick it back up later.
another vote for Black Dagger Brotherhood. Outlander has good scenes but they are very far between and not something I'd recommend specifically for the sex scenes since there is so much book.
I agree with the Nora Roberts recommendations. Definitely the Bridal Quartet. I'm currently reading the Chesapeake series and it's a bit older, but still good.
I'll also recommend Judith McNaught's Paradise and Perfect (Second Opportunities series). There are several more in that series and they are on my to-read list. Though dated to the early 90s, the story of the first book is a favorite of mine and one that I just couldn't put down.
The Tea Rose series has a good of amount steamy scenes. It's an exciting, fun, and interesting trilogy. It's historical fiction and takes place in turn of the century London, New York, and a few other locations.
