Ingredients: 1 cup medium or amber maple syrup 1/2 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup 2% condensed milk 2 eggs 1 unbaked pie crust
Method: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Whisk the first four ingredients in a bowl until well blended Pour ingredients into unbaked pie crust Bake for 45 minutes Remove pie from oven. Center of pie will be jiggly. The pie will continue to bake slowly resulting in a silky texture.
Yield: 1 9-inch pie Serving suggestions: Drizzle with maple syrup or top with whipping cream or ice cream. Maple Syrup Pie is best served cold.
ETA - H and I have used the same recipe to make maple tarts. You just pour the same mixture into tart shells instead of a pie crust. Then, just be sure to reduce the baking time to 25 minutes or so until they look ready. The key is to not overbake them though, because then the syrup will harden and turn into sugar.

I am so going to print out this post and make everything in it. Here's my contribution:
Chocolate caramel-dipped pretzels
1 c butter 1 c brown sugar 1 c light corn syrup 14 oz sweetened condensed milk dash salt
Combine the caramel ingredients over medium heat until soft-ball stage is reached. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before dipping pretzels. Use a spatula to cover the pretzels and cool on parchment paper. Roll pretzels to prevent edges. Once cool, dip in melted chocolate. If desired, roll in other goodies (e.g., crushed candy canes, sprinkles, mini m&ms) after the chocolate has begun to set.
For the chocolate, I've always used baker's chocolate with a little bit of paraffin added (to harden the chocolate and give it a nice sheen).

I know I'm late to this, but yesterday was a spastic day. Here are my two favorite recipes.
Quick and Easy Fudge
1 12 oz pkg semi sweet chocolate chips 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk 1 tbsp butter 1 tbsp cream
Place chips and milk in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on medium power for 2-3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Microwave, stirring at 1 minute intervals until chips are melted and mixture is smooth and thick. Stir in butter and cream until combined.
Pour into a greased 8" square pan and cool.
(I can't eat this, but fudge seems to be a holiday staple, so I make it for everyone else. It ALWAYS disappears, and it's super easy.)
Cheese bread
1 egg 1-1/2 Cups mIlk 3-3/4 cups bisquik baking mix 3/4 cup cheddar cheese (I use sharp)
Beat egg and add milk. Stir in baking mix and cheese. Beat until well blended. Pour into greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
Remove from oven and brush the top with garlic butter.
(This one is basically a variation on the "Red Lobster Cheddar Biscuits", but everyone likes it and it usually disappears pretty quickly. I make it throughout the year too. Makes a great bread to go with spaghetti or chicken alfredo.)
Margarita- Is that the recipe from Smitten Kitchen? I don't remember exactly what was in it, but she has one that is amazing. I had forgotten all about it.
GBCK - it is. We ended up buying some maple pie at the farmer's market one year, and then decided we had to start making it ourselves. We tried doing the maple tarts at Easter this year, and they turned out great.

Cranberry White Chocolate Cookies
Ingredients: ½ cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 egg 1 tsp Vanilla 1/4 tsp Salt 1/2 tsp Baking powder 1/2 tsp Baking soda 1 1/4 cup Flour 1 1/4 cup Oats 1 cup White chocolate chips 1 cup Dried cranberries
Directions: 1. Beat softened butter and sugars until smooth. Mix in eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix in slowly to wet ingredients. Add your oats, cranberries, and white chocolate.
Jar of baby dills (if you love the sour pickle taste, get regular-sized dills)
Couple bricks of cream cheese, light or regular
Couple packages of Carl Buddig beef or ham
Place the pickles on a plate covered with paper towels. Put more paper towels over the pickles and let them dry for a few hours.
Set the cream cheese out to thaw.
When pickles are dry(er) and cream cheese is soft, take a piece of the beef or ham, smear a bunch of cream cheese on it, and roll a pickle in the whole thing. Cut them up into bite-sized pieces or leave them whole for a penis-on-a-plate look.
Sounds gross but they are AMAZING and I bring them everywhere. What I get in weird looks is vastly overshadowed by "holy crap I love these penises so much"
These are good, I haven't made them in awhile but might add this to our Christmas eve buffet. I cut them in to "wheels".
