At home, we pretty much eat them only at Thanksgiving and maybe Christmas. We have mashed cauliflower otherwise, and honestly don't miss the potatoes. It's not a big deal to me. At a restaurant as part of an entree - maybe two or three times a year? I'm not sure.

Not very often until I discovered Trader Joe's frozen mashed potatoes. While they aren't quite as awesome as my MIL's potatoes, they are pretty darn good. Definitely not worth my effort to make real ones instead.
I hardly ever make them myself. But 1 or 2 times I month eating out? I had them from my work cafeteria this week. And my mom made them on Thanksgiving before that.
Maybe 4 times per year? I make them when I make chicken fried steak or meatloaf, both are rare in our house but feel like a treat from childhood every now and then. I usually make scalloped potatoes for holidays.
Typically not very often. But over the past month I've baked single potatoes and mashed them up almost daily to help with morning sickness. I've probably eaten this about 12 times in the last 30 days.
So maybe these aren't legit mashed potatoes but I remove the skin and smash them up lol.
Maybe 3-4 times a year - Thanksgiving, Christmas and then I'll randomly feel like some from time to time. I freaking love mashed potatoes, but I try to avoid carbs as much as possible. They're definitely a treat.
If we do have potatoes otherwise, I might slice up one to mix with other roasted vegetables. Then I can limit myself to a 1/2 potato. With mashed, all bets are off. I could probably eat the equivalent of 2 potatoes by myself, nevermind all the butter!
A couple times a year? We used to do instant maybe once a month but stopped a couple years ago. Now I make real mashed baby red potatoes with rosemary or something similar every now and then. It's probably been 6 months.

Maybe about once a month. I typically eat it in restaurants or with my fried chicken (lol). Sometimes I will make the instant for a quick side at home or use the frozen potatoes that you just need to mash. I made mashed potatoes from scratch this past thanksgiving and all that milk + heavy cream made me not want to eat it.

Thanksgiving and maybe one other time a year? We very rarely eat carbs at dinner (we eat pretty late, so we just go with a veggie and protein). In order for me to really like them, I need to put in either sour cream and butter or cream cheese and butter, so that's not much of a regular week day type meal for us.
