I fail to see how this woman's suicide is the fault of those DJ's.
From what we know, she hadn't lost her job. She hadn't been on the verge of losing her job, even after this call. She did not even give any information to the DJ's, nor did she patch them through directly to Kate.
There had to have been other underlying issues. Or maybe they'll find it wasn't really a suicide. And if it was a suicide directly due to the phone call mishap, then what a shame...throwing away her life over a 2 second patch through to the nurses station?
I don't think the DJ's should be getting the backlash they are. Stupid, yes. Pointless, absolutely. Worthy of getting death threats and being told they have blood on their hands? No.
i know a lot of people who still listen to regular radio - i don't - haven't since Howard Stern moved to Sirius - i LOVE sirius!
as for this situation- it's horrible... but I think blaming the radio prank is a bit much --- average people who are healthy mentally/emotionally don't commit suicide b/c of a bad situation. This nurse was obviously troubled and this may have put her over the edge - but it was far from a cause... it just doesn't happen like that. Suicide isn't something regular people just do b/c they are upset one day.
I disagree.
Being humiliated on the global scale. Losing your livelihood. Questioning your ability to ever get another job in your field. Feeling that you've let down yourself, your family, your employer and your royal family...
I think that is a little bit different than 'being upset one day.'
I can imagine many 'average' people who would not be able to handle something like that.
Suicides are actually often situational, and are not always the consequence of an underlying condition. See: Amanda Todd...and all the other teenagers who have killed themselves b/c of being bullied. Do you think that all of them were just emotionally unstable to begin with?
teenagers don't commit suicide over one instance of being bullied... and if they do- then yes, I'll say that they have other issues going on.
I happen to know quite a few people who have committed suicide, sadly, and not one of them was 100% emotionally stable before it happened --- all had issues they dealt with for a long time. If average people killed themselves b/c of one episode in their life - it would be a lot more rampant than it is already.
I'm not saying their prank sucked and was a total ass hole move - i'm just saying they don't deserve to be blamed for her death.
but do you really want to be the person who puts someone over the edge? How does it make it okay to do something that purposely harms someone (by mocking them, embarrassing them or bullying them or whatever) and then say they can't be blamed because the person had other issues.
I think it's odd that she would kill herself over this prank as well honestly. But I'm still going to place blame on the DJs for pushing her over the edge for the simple fact that they had no good or innocent reason to be pranking her at work.

I just can't imagine that a prank call about/to someone in the hospital is at all funny or should be a source of entertainment. She's not recovering from a boob job, she's getting treatment for HG which may or may not go away for the remaing portion of her pregnancy (and may also come back with future pregnancies). It seems like it would be taboo but because it's "just morning sickness" these DJs felt it was fair game.
(Disclaimer - I have HG with this pregnancy so I feel for her).
How terrible that this nurse felt she needed an out from the situation this badly to leave behind her two children.

Yeah HG is no joke, it is extremely serious. A friend of mine delivered her daughter VERY prematurely (she was only 2lbs, 2oz when born, don't remember the gestational age exactly) due to complications from HG. She almost died (my friend) - very very scary.

I agree with this too. From what i understand the woman just patched them through? is that right? And I read she didn't lose her job. If this was suicide there has to be more to it, it doesn't make sense.
I think the djs prob didn't think they would even get through. I didn't listen to the whole thing, just heard clips on the radio the other day but it was kind of funny. I don't think it was mean spirited at all (from what i heard, i will have to listen to the whole thing) and also think it's ridic that people are threatening the lives of the djs over this.

I honestly don't believe that both nurses were not going to be fired over this...a pretty big breach of confidentiality involving a royal?! Of course the hospital is going to say that now, but I'd bet a lot of money that they were taking a ton of heat for this behind closed doors.
There's also the fact that afterward, the DJ were milking this prank for every ounce of publicity they could get...including laughing about how bad their accents were and how they couldn't believe they actually fell for it, etc. Basically making her look like a total idiot...so that would not be fun for someone either.
I spent yesterday and today in a mental health first aid seminar and this story put me over the edge. I'm just so angry and so sad. So needless. So tragic. And how awful for Will and Kate to have this associated with their first child.

From all reports the royal family was not upset with any hospital staff for the prank and that the hospital had no plans to discipline any of the staff that were involved in the incident.
Honestly, the royal family is probably used to this kind of shit, which is why they weren't angry at anyone for falling for it. But it could really be a lot for an average citizen to take, especially with the British press being what it is.
