WTF indeed. Plastic spoons should be left for cereal and soup. Not for decor. Unless you're a 5 year old in kindegarten. What is with people trying to use spray painted junk as decor? I will never understand this. More often than not, junk still looks like junk even if it's covered in glue and paint!
Definite WTF. Why waste your time on cheesey Christmas decor when you can buy it left and right?
In a way though...if you had older kids that needed a project it could be fun. I can justify Christmas decor in a lot of ways if it's "For the kids." LOL.
Really though..I'm jealous of people who have time to craft. My sister and I were just discussing that anything beyond "easy" takes forever for us to get done. It's just not me. I'd rather read, run, clean or decorate before I take up art projects.
I think it is kind of fun. I think a little bit of humor and kitsch is a good thing.
IMO, Christmas stuff can be cheesey....it isn't something that you have to live with more than a month or so, and it just has to be something that you want to look at, not please everyone. Colin Cowie said the same thing on TV recently, and I felt validated.
Other than being layered, the felt tree and the spoon tree have completely different looks and feel. For some reason, the felt one reminds me of necco wafers, and makes me think that I should make one for my brother. We used to use them for target practice with my brother's bb gun.
Lately it seems like every blog is filled with these tacky projects that are just going to get thrown out when the holiday is over. Why not spend a little time and money and do something that won't be going into the garbage next week?? I swear I'm about ready to delete half of my blog roll.
I don't hate it, but I wouldn't spend my time to make it. I do think it would be a great project for kids that are on christmas break and mom is running out of things to do to keep them entertained and not in front of the TV.
I made a christmas tree last year that sits on my front porch table out of pots. I love it.

I agree 100%. Then it can be cute because the kids made it.
