DD is almost 6 and has never shown interest in dolls of any kind. She does like stuffed animals. I bought a really nice Corolle doll for her a couple of years ago and it totally went to waste.
Probably around 4-5. I just looked on their website though and they don't have Samantha listed, which was my favorite. What the heck, lol.
Samantha was retired. Same with most of the original dolls. I think Molly and Addy are the only ones still available.
Oh no. Retired forever or just temporarily like they do with the Disney movies? Do they do the same thing with the books? Maybe I should buy them for DD this year.
Never? I hope to not have a girl but if I do, I really hope she isn't into AG. I *loved* the books but hated the dolls. I had Samantha. I didn't do anything with her. I'm so not girly and I really, truly fear having a girl someday.

My girls are 6 and 9. DD #1 has 3 AG dolls, DD #2 has 2 and is getting her third (Caroline) as a Christmas gift from my ILs.
They each got their first doll as a Christmas gift the year they were 3. I only allowed supervised play until they were about 5, but after that they could keep them on a reachable shelf and use them whenever, and other than some small ink stains on one of DD #1's dolls arms, they're still in perfect shape (not counting that the original hair do's are all pretty much toast...they don't hold up to play so they just all have their hair down now, still in good condition).

I haven't heard anything about them bringing back the retired dolls. I know Samantha is in high demand on ebay/craigslist so I would think if they were going to bring her back they would have already since its been a bunch of years.
I wish I had bought more stuff for Kirsten. She was the 2nd doll that I got as a child and I never ended up getting much of her stuff.
When I was a kid I spent hours upon hours looking at the AG catalogs. My mom thought they were too expensive so I never got one and honestly I probably did spend more time thinking about what I wanted than I would have spent actually playing with the stuff if it had been given to me. That said, if we have a girl, I hope my dad will buy 1 for her. He bought tons of AG stuff for all the female grandkids so far.

We bought DD a bitty baby twin when she was two and our niece gave us her three used ones when Julia was four. She plays with them all and I am a big doll person too.
