Put an ice cube in a baby food jar or small Tupperware container, if it melts you know the freezer unfroze while you were out or during a power outage without having o open it o check during the outage.
I feel dumb bc I've thought about this for awhile and I just don't get it. How do you not have to open the freezer?
you open it after the power returns.
My tip- broccoli elastics- keep one in the drawer for opening jars. Put it around the lid and it gives a grippy surface so you hand doesn't slip when turning the stuck on lid. Also, I keep one around my kitchen tongs so they stay closed in the drawer.

As she said, after the power returns. If it has refrozen in the shape if the container it melted, your food may be unsafe. If it is still a cube you are good.
My h almost died from the smell when I tried this. He has a verrry sensitive sense of smell, though.
The breadbags in the boots thing is a fond memory of childhood, and really works!
To clean a grimy or stained dishwasher, put a packet of lemonade koolaid, or chrystal lite, in the soap dispenser, runan empty load. Shiny white! Make sure it's lemonade, though, or you'll end up with a cherry or grape or whatever colored interior!
lol. This could be difficult to explain to a landlord.
I have used Tang before...doesn't dye the machine orange, but it definitely works at getting the dishwasher clean!
white vinegar is fantastic for many things, but do NOT use it to clean granite counter tops. It will strip the finish over time. Here's a great website: www.vinegartips.com/Scripts/
I used to throw away clothing when I got large stains of grease on it from cooking or other things. The one stain remover that has worked better for me than any other is Lestoil. Pretreat before washing, and you'll want to rewash the item at least one additional time to remove the smell. The only downfall of Lestoil is the smell. One time I got BLACK grease on a WHITE shirt, I treated it with Lestoil as soon as I could at home (several hours after the incident), and it disappeared after washing. You can get Lestoil in the cleaning aisle of most grocery stores. www.homedepot.com/buy/lestoil-48-oz-multi-surface-cleaner-4460033916.html#.URJplqVX2z8
Use dryer sheets to wipe dust off along molding in rooms....it attracts dust better than anything else.
Don't throw away socks with holes in them. Use them to dust around your home.
If you have wood blinds (as I do), the easiest way to clean them is first by quickly using a Swiffer duster to get off loose dust and then wiping them down with Clorox wipes. The wipes get all the dirt off and it takes easily half the time to clean them versus any other method I have tried.
If you love baking homemade muffins, but you hate the idea of wasting most of the batch because they don't get devoured fast enough in your home. Prepare your muffins and put them in a cupcake/muffin pan but instead of baking them, put it the freezer. Once they are frozen, transfer from pan to individual baggies and simply pull them out and bake when you want them.
