Do you consider the child's initials when choosing a name? Have you ruled out a name because of the initials?
DH & I really like one particular boy name (which may be a non-issue, I know) but the initials would be "HIC." I'm a big fan of monogrammed backpacks and such, so I'm just picturing this sweet little boy walking into school with "HIC" on his backpack and dealing with the taunts! DH thinks I'm a little weird to even think of that, but I'm a teacher, and I know what happens at school!
We have, but only because H really wants a son with the same initials as him (why? I have no clue). The middle name would be the same as his, but he would also prefer a first name that starts with the same letter.
Coincidentally, our favorite first name for a girl would also be the same letter as my first name. So if we had a boy and a girl, we'll totally be that family where the mom and daughter had the same initials and the dad and son had the same initials.

I think initials only matter if they spell something like ASS or FUK. DD's initials are EKG, and I think it's kind of amusing, but it didn't make me reconsider her name.

A - agree on those initials.
B - DH has a cousin w/ EKG as her initials, and her last name is Graham - so it's kind of even funnier.
We gave it a bit of a thought, but like others I'd only skip something like ASS. My sister's initials are NCR, which was more funny when NCR was a huge company and my dad worked there. My BIL is BAD.
DD's initials are BHM. I am terrified that kids will someday figure out that her first/last initials are BM. But I otherwise loved her name, so I went with it anyway.
Like Brie we just focused on avoiding something vulgar. H's last name starts with a J, so we needed to avoid names that would get us VAJ for initials :-)
I do think initials are something to consider before finalizing a name. A co-worker of mine named her son George Ethan Ryan Miller (initials GERM). I wonder if she wrote that out before naming him.
Yes. I wanted to use Grace for a middle name, but her initials would have been EGG. So I went with Rose and they are ERG, which isn't great, but isn't a word.
Yes, we considered what her initials would be. My husband and I have names that start with the same letter, so we also were hesitant to consider any names that started with that same letter because we didn't want to be all matchy.

It is something we considered. For a while we were considering a name with the initials CAR. If I really loved it, it wouldn't deter me unless it was vulgar.

DD's name is an internet acronym (no, not a super well-used one like LOL or anything), we figured by the time she was old enough to even know that it wouldn't be popular any more.
The names we like spell out COP and JAP with our last name. I don't mind COP but I am a little worried about JAP. I love the name though- James Alexander. I suppose I could find a new middle name but I think it flows really well. I don't really plan on initialling things so perhaps it could work.
