It's just Euroope I think. In flying to Bangkok, round trip, with a 3 day stop over in Tokyo for $1K. DH is flying to India, Bangkok, Tokyo, then home for $3K. I was shocked they weren't. Ore pricey, though this is coach; I'm going to try to get upgrades to first class at the gate.
Oh, if that's the budget then definitely stay somewhere in this hemisphere. And close by.
I can get Guatemala for less than $600/person. That would be a good start. We can do ruins and ancient art instead of impressionism or renaissance. The weather in Feb is good.

That sounds lovely.
I know that I'm biased, but PR has quite a bit of art and history, and lots of attractions that are age appropriate. Just a thought. And let's face it, being in Old San Juan is like being in many a old city in the Madre Patria!

I got Chicago-Barcelona flight (with a very easy layover in Philly) last October for $450 (with tax) that was more of a last minute flight.
My flight to NOLA this year was the same amount!
In '09, we got roundtrip flight during Easter week from Chicago-London and then Paris-Chicago for $500. Amazing deal.
However, this past September we ended up driving to Canada for a vacation. H didn't want to pay double or triple to go to Europe. I'm afraid those prices won't go down for a while though.
We have a wedding this year in India and I'm anxious to see how expensive the flight for that will be. Hopefully we can go...
