Hello fellow savers!
I decided to do check ins on Monday, so that we can own up to any bad behavior over the weekend. Feel free to give as much or little information as you like.
Spent:
Bought gas and groceries, so kind of unavoidable expenses. I really wish groceries were cheaper here. I tried very hard to keep the prices down but still spent around $90 on not that many items. I think I am going to really try hard to do a few meatless days a week since that seems to be where the bulk of our cost comes from.
Save: DH and I get paid on opposite weeks, so we have weekly savings goals, which we met! In a month or so after we finish paying off the christmas CC expenses I hope to double our weekly savings goal.
We bought groceries, lunch out for me on Sat and a quick trip to Target (all planned).
Save: Did our weekly gift deposit (we find $20 a week is easier than the $80 all at once) and paid off one CC. (It was only $55 but still makes me feel good!)
I took out the money for our envelopes for these two weeks. However, H bought gas on the card because he forgot to get some of the cash, ugh. I'll have to put 40 back into the bank. I paid $500 on a credit card this pay period, so that's awesome. I budget bi-weekly.
I spent $36 this weekend! I bought coffees for friends since they paid for my lunch. The frivolous thing I got was pillow cases from Ikea that I had a friend pick up for me. It was much cheaper for her to pick up a few items than me walking through and getting tons of stuff.
I'm just doing what *I* did, because DH (who does the grocery shopping) will always spend as little as possible in any given situation
Spent: --$70 sat night for a friend's birthday dinner. --$130 on a shirt and sweater for DH's bday gift --$9 on Qdoba at the mall while shopping
Save (or maybe this should be called "didn't spend"): --I DID NOT have lunch delivered once last week. I usually do this *every day*. I brought my lunch from home. I also did not buy breakfast once. --I used gift cards to buy coffee and the Fresh Sugar lip stuff I needed from Sephora --I did not buy an eyeliner brush while watching my Mom get her Bare Escentuals makeover, even though I decided that I really need one --I had to buy a bunch of pumping stuff (parts, cleaner) from Buy Buy Baby, and also bought DD a few teething rings. I used gift cards, so spent $0 --I did not even look at all the cute baby clothes while at the mall on Sunday. In fact, I am super impressed that I walked out of there with only the items I had gone in to buy (DH's gift and the Sephora stuff)
Seriously, you have no idea how impressed I am with myself

This is really great! I am impressed as well. The lunch thing is huge Good job!

I went out to lunch with some coworkers on Friday and spend $10. This will come from my $50 monthly fun money.
This weekend we spend $40 at the grocery store and $30 at Costco. I also made my own greek yogurt, and will likely continue to do so as it's about 1/2 price to buying it, and we eat quite a bit of it.
Oh, and $50 on dog food (about an every 6 week expense)
Everything was within budget. Our freeze is really just a freeze on our budget line items.
We went out lunch on Saturday, which we always do since DH works most Saturdays. We also got some frozen yogurt Sunday. That was our only "entertainment" spent, which is excellent for us.
We also bought groceries, oil for car, and DH bought some things with his personal spending money.
I don't know what I spent, not much that was unnecessary.
But I'm super proud to mention I returned 2 items that I bought on impulse, and I REALLY didn't need but wanted to keep. They totaled $141.00 so I feel good about getting that money back.

Ha yes we are! I just wish it was already next December lol. It seems like a long way away. But I keep telling myself if I can do it, the payoff will be huge!

I only bought gas and groceries. Not sure what DH did. Gas was $75. I used grocery store points and paid $2.82/gallon.
I am back on the coupon-sales match train.
For $140, I got: - 7 bottles of Tide Free - 60 rolls if toilet paper - 200 kitchen trash bags - 5 large bottles of dish soap - 8 boxes of Rice Crispies - 2 packs of bacon - 5 pounds of organic pears - 5 pounds organic apples - lettuce - 10 pounds of bananas - 2 packs of jello - 2 dozen eggs - quart of half-n-half - 2 gallons of milk - 5 boxes of spaghetti - 2 large containers of greek yogurt - 2 pounds of block cheddar

Spent:
$33 for stuff for my SIl's shower. $49 for an oil change at dealership $16 for 2 furnace covers (not sure what they are called). $15 burger and a drink at Dh's hockey game. -That was a silly spend, the food was awful.
We are eating from the pantry this week so I have a crockpot of vegatarian chili going right now.
I'm pretty pleased with how little I spent last week. I feel like I am going to have a ton more free time now because of no shopping.
I spent $240 on my hair, but that was a budgeted event.
I did spend $40 on two new bras, but that was an absolute necessity.
We went out to eat but we used cash. I have $200 left for food for the month, though :/ I need produce and lunchmeat, so hopefully will only spend $50 tonight.

What do you do with 10lbs of bananas? Does your family eat a lot of fruit?
We spent about $130 combined at Target and the grocery store this weekend. I stuck to my list at both stores. I need to be really careful about my grocery budget for the rest of the month since I've already spent all the money I allot monthly for general shopping trips (Target, Home Depot, etc.).
I didn't buy anything at the cafeteria this morning (this is huge for me, as I've gotten in the habit of buying my breakfast the past few months). I did, however, spend $1.50 on a side salad and a roll to go with the soup I made for lunch.
We budget $10/day for food and so far we've only spent $24 out of $70 (since today is the 7th). Having three wisdom teeth out helped... I couldn't really eat and had no appetite for several days.
Spent $1800 on the teeth, but 80% of that will be reimbursed by insurance so really only $360 oop.
H spent $13 on beer to watch football with friends (beer is expensive in Canada!)
I spent $40 of my allowance on boards and paint.
Conversely, we're on track to save $5,000 by Jan 15th! We scaled back our budget, diverted some money I had set aside to pay off a student loan, and are being reimbursed for a missions trip we are no longer going on since h won't be employed then. We have a contingency budget if h is without a paycheque and we shouldn't have to touch our efund at all, but we're still hoarding money for a while. This is an efund for the efund. I figure we can drop a huge chunk on loans later if that seems like a good idea or we can just keep it around for the next crisis.

How do you make your own Greek yogurt? I need to do this, I eat so much of it.
We are doing well, $100 at Target for groceries. We ate two meals out with a giftcard and fun money. We are saving up fun money to use on our cruise (paid for with Christmas gift money).
I think I did pretty well. Brought my lunch every day except 1 last week, and ate all dinners at home during the week. Spend $30 going out to dinner with BF on Saturday and he got the movie tickets for the weekend's entertainment. And I spend $4 on the MM book
I used most of my gift cards I got during the holidays so that was MM.
The rest was spent on groceries and I cut waaayyyy back too. Go me! Next weekend may be tough as it is DH's birthday and he wants to go out, which is fine. I figure we can eat in all week and splurge on his birthday.
I spent about $60 at the grocery store on my way home from work on Friday to pick up a large quantity of chicken breasts to freeze because they were on a huge sale. Picked up some produce for us as well and a few other things. Didn't impulse buy at all!
Packed lunch every day and plan to do the same all week this week.
Stayed in all day on Saturday because we are all sick which resulted in $0 spending.
Made a quick run to Target on Sunday for $80ish for some cold meds, a birthday gift, and a few other essential items.
Broke down and ate lunch out on Sunday since lunchtime hit while we were shopping.

I only bought food all week. Two meals out though, which was bad. I had a roast in the fridge to thaw and it leaked raw meat juice into my crisper draw so I lost a few planned meals.
This weekend was sort of off b/c I was OOT and DH was home sick.
So I treated my mom to dinner and lunch over the weekend, around $50.
Then I spent fun money on some maternity clothes around $100 and spent $5 at the scrapbooking thing we were at this weekend.
Unfortunately DH ended up at the urgent care, so $50/copay for that. I'm not even worried about the meds and pizza he ordered. Poor guy ended up with strep, ear infection, and viral pink eye.
So overall a decent weekend, we probably would have spent more if we were together and DH is finally feeling better.
We did okay. DH took LWOP over Christmas, so he didn't get a check on Friday. But he gets paid weekly, so he'll get one on Friday.
We went to Costco and the grocery store. We meal planned and I stuck to the grocery list. We did buy frozen yogurt at Costco, but that was our only unplanned, non-essential purchase this weekend.
I have yet to pay for our travel plans, hence my spending freeze.
So the good is that I did not do any shopping. Thankful that I'm almost out of holiday's GC's, because I have less incentive to look into deals online.
I did spend $40 in this weekend's entertainment. The goal is to not go out/eat out until after January to be able to get the travel outlay of over $1K paid.
The $40 is basically half my entertainment budget for the month

I didn't post in the initial post; can I join?
Last week we did pretty well. We ate in two times more than usual. Everything else was planned. During lunch today we bought an upright freezer for $500. That means no fun money this money, no kid purchases and a trim food budget to make up the difference.
We returned a matress topper to Costco that I hated ($150)
I went to happy hour with friends on Friday $40 Saturday DH and I went to dinner and drinks $90 Sunday we went to brunch with friends $40
However I only spent $15 at the grocery store for the week and we joined Amazon prime so I've been able buy the things we need without the temptation of Target.
