I root for: NHL: New Jersey Devils. And I don't mind the Canadiens. NFL: New York Giants MLB: Boston Red Sox College: Rutgers if they're in a big game, but I don't follow them
Don't like: NHL: NY Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins NFL: Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots MLB: Philadelphia Phillies, NY Yankees (I actually don't mind the team but I don't like the fans)
LA fans suck--Lakers, Dodgers, etc. Maybe the fair weather spills over into their attitude toward sports. On the other end of the spectrum, Seahawks fans' 12th man thing is obnoxious. I saw a guy in a bar the other day wearing a Fan #12 jersey. Just no.
NHL: Every other Atlantic Division team (Devils, Islanders, Flyers, Penguins) NFL: Every other NFC East team (Redskins, Eagles, Cowboys) and the Jets MLB: Every other NL East team (Braves, Nationals, Phillies, Marlins) and the Yankees
Milwaukee Brewers. I would hate the cubs if they weren't so terrible; it just kind of feels mean at this point. No offense to y4m, but the Cardinals can DIAF as far as I'm concerned. The Cardinals evoke a visceral rage in me that I almost find a bit frightening. I'm not sure I hate any other team in the universe as much as I hate them.
My college allegiances make me feel not anonymous enough, but I will say that I DESPISE Michigan State with the fire of a thousand suns.
I never understand why people hate us. I mean, I understood back in the 50s and 70s. But now we suck, lol, except this year. When people hate us year in and year out, its like kicking a dog when its down.
The exception to this are our rivals. I get why they hate us. The feeling is mutual Although we always root for them when we aren't playing them.
I can't stand Florida simply because I grew up here and the fans are unbearable.
I pull for the Falcons and Braves, and the Panthers when they're not playing Atlanta. Don't care about basketball or hockey. CFB - we are devout Auburn fans.

For me--and obviously this is sports, not personal!--I can't stand how much ESPN and other college football media just WORSHIPS Notre Dame. It drives me nuts. When I was in college in 2002 my team (Georgia) was 8-0 going into a big rivalry weekend (vs. Florida on Halloween). So was Notre Dame. So were probably several other teams, but every time I turned on the TV the announces were so overexcited about "Notre Dame returning to glory" and blah blah blah. It made me really mad that my team was doing just as well, on an arguably tougher schedule, and all I heard about was Notre Dame.
I also don't understand why Notre Dame gets to turn up its nose at being in a conference yet the networks still broadcast their games even when they aren't doing well. No other team would ever receive that kind of deference.
Most ND fans I know IRL are really nice and decent people and I admire the loyalty and passion they have for their school. I just hate that Notre Dame is still treated like a golden child in college football even though they haven't done anything recently to deserve it.
Best of luck tonight--I will be pulling for Alabama but you have a great team this year and I am very excited to watch the game!!
ND bugs me because they have made their own rules and they get TV coverage even when they have a shit team (that you can count on being overrated), which, as you have pointed out, has been the case for a loooooong time.
They cover us because we make them money. NBC makes a KILLING off of us because people either love or hate us...so they watch either way even when we suck. Its actually WHY we can't join a conference. We would lose the contract.
I get being annoyed at the coverage. I totally we do. Its biased. I just don't get hating us, I suppose.

I know and I get it, but you asked.
FTR, I don't hate ND. I just roll my eyes at them some. They do have tons of fans who love them just because they are the only college team on TV in their area. My husband, in fact, is a reformed ND fan. Now he bleeds red and black like a normal person.
FOR: NFL- Giants, Ravens College - Rutgers, Michigan (most B1G teams -generally), Seton Hall for basketball Basketball- Knicks, Nets (although I am not a big BBall fan)
AGAINST: NFL- Eagles, Patriots, Dallas College- Notre Dame, most SEC teams except Florida, all former Big East Catholic BBall teams except Seton Hall

At some point being extremely annoyed at a team for years and years and years turns to active dislike. (shrug) It's sports. It's not a big deal either way. I try to be sportsmanlike even to fans of teams I dislike which I hope you picked up on in this thread.
I'm not really into sports, so besides the schools I went to (which are schools that generally no-one but alums would care about), I don't really have allegiances.
Fans who bother me: Duke (and sadly, I am friends with quite a few Duke fans so I can't escape it), BC, and to a lesser extent, Notre Dame. Oh, and the Jets. I wish I didn't have to hear hours of discussion at the beginning of each season about how THIS is going to be the year (followed by months of depression).
I kind of admire the Philly fan um... enthusiasm... so I generally wish Philly well so the fans can entertain us all.

As a fan of a (soon to be former) Big East football team, ND was part of the demise of the Big East. Yes, it was the BE leadership that let them have the stupid hybrid membership, but it really pushed the BE down in perception, and cost us a viable conference. If ND had been a full time BE member, I think it would have been the ACC to drown, not the BE. Teams wouldnt have bolted for greener pasturers. Plus ND stole all our good bowl games. Maybe we wouldnt have had access to those games without ND, but if they had been a full member, it would have been more fair.
So, FU to ND, FU to the ACC (have fun being the new Big East), FU to ESPN, and I am so happy to be part of the B1G.

I actually root for your UG bc my BIL played football for them, so...
I dont bother hating the Jets bc its not fun to bash the disabled red-headed stepchild.
I hate Manning too and am now forced to dislike the Broncos, with whom I previously didn't really have a problem.
THANK YOU!!! Everyone thinks I'm so weird because he's "such a nice guy!" But he bugs the shit out of me.
I also hate Manning and the Colts, living in Indy this puts me at a disadvantage.
I root for: NHL: Chicago Blackhawks NFL: Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears MLB: Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox NCAA: Butler University, Purdue University, University of Cincinnati
Don't like: NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts MLB: Philadelphia Phillies NCAA: Indiana University

College: VT MLB: orioles & redsox (due to DH and the orioles sucking) NFL: redskins and have been warming up to ravens
I don't follow NHL (well enough to know they aren't playing) but will root for the caps if they make it to the playoffs. I also can't stand the NBA, but we end up watching quite a few clippers games.
