I finally heard back from the job I had a second interview for 3ish months ago. They said I wouldn't be moving on to their next stage of the hiring process.
On one hand I think it's absurd that it's taken 3 months to get to this point and they have yet another stage, so maybe I should be glad I didn't get it. On the other hand, it would have been a great environment and good benefits.
So, anyone know of any job openings? I need $14/hr minimum. I have very strong accounting and administration skills with 10+ years of experience.
You could take the H&R Block class and then do taxes. I don't know what they pay but I've heard great things about the course.
I averaged $16/hr doing this back in 2008 in LCOL Indiana.
I can't remember the exact cost, but I know the tax class was relatively cheap because I was able to pay for it by saving wages from my $5.15/hr job.
most the money you make is off commission, because I believe base pay was either $7 or $8/hr. I got to keep 10% of the value of the services I provided - basically the cost of the return. simple income returns started at around $100, so you really had to turn people over quickly to make that much. it also helped that on sundays I was the only person in the office open-close, so I didn't have to share potential commission with other people.
