I work in Bethesda and DH currently works in Clarendon (but may be working from home in the near future).
Bethesda from anywhere in VA pretty much sucks, so I've accepted that. I just would like it to suck as little as possible, lol.
I forgot you were working in Bethesda. DH commuted from our area to Bethesda for 5 months last year - he may do it again this year. It wasn't too bad. Leaving at 8am in the morning it took 20 minutes, but the afternoons could be 25 minutes to an hour (leaving around 4:30pm). He said it's definitely better going from VA to MD, rather than the opposite direction. So at least you have that going for you.
Did you see that they're opening a sports bar geared towards women in Clarendon? WTF?

Former Parkfairfax resident here! I'm a little late to the party, but I wanted to tell you that Parkfairfax does have three different pools and tennis courts. It also has a car wash area. I see the unit that was posted earlier is a Lincoln model. That's the same unit we had. Be sure to ask whether the building has concrete subfloors. Some buildings in Parkfairfax do, others do not. Our building did not, so we got a lot of noise from the upstairs neighbors. It was one of our main reasons for moving. Otherwise, we really liked Parkfairfax. I did the Dash bus-to-Pentagon Metro thing daily and it was tolerable. Oh, and I do not think that unit is overpriced. We paid something like $1700 or $1750 for a Lincoln in 2007, and our unit was not as updated.
The upstairs noise issue is like the only thing I'm concerned about. Do some of them have concrete subfloors?
Our place in Fairlington did not and I could hear EVERYTHING the lady upstairs did.
We heard from other residents that some buildings do and others do not. Hopefully the owner will be able to tell you. Or, you could ask the condo organization. They should know.
ETA- Another thing I just thought of: If/when you tour the unit, the kitchen will look ridiculously small. However, the Lincoln kitchens are configured really well and I found I had more space than I initially thought I would.
