I remember the ironman tattoo, that was also a fun day.
How do I NOT remember this day?!
Aww, did you miss that? Poster comes on & says that her sister is getting some flack on her blog for her ironman tattoo & would we mind leaving comments & giving support. H&F runs off to help....except we read the blog & it's filled with statements as,"People should bow down to me" "Others should quake with fear" "Your marathon is my cool down" etc. H&F collectively loses their shit. Nasty comments are made here. Nasty comments are made on the blog. The sister gets upset. OP comes back & scolds us & asks for deletion. We get shut down. Spin off threads re-hash it. PMs are sent for those who missed it. It was entertaining.

I run with my big black dog. However, I run through a Korean neighborhood. What can I do to make sure she isn't mistaken for tonight's dinner?
(I don't run. I did have a big black dog. She stayed behind in America while I lived in Korea, although it wasn't for fear she'd become soup. Just so you all know I'm not actually serious.)

I forgot about chicken nugget runners. Classic.
Based on the title of this post, I was cringing before I opened it.
OP - if you are still reading, I am sorry you have been through so much. I can in no way say I understand, but there are a lot of people who have had to adjust their workouts/running to new and extreme circumstances.
One thing I didn't see mentioned was finding a place to run indoors nearby. I used to run at a community center indoor track in high school. Totally safe, and was always open. Do that a couple times a week, then drive somewhere on the weekend to run somewhere safe.
Get a treadmill and run at home. Seriously. If this is 'all you have left', which is pretty dramatic, why would you fuck that up with a rape or assault?
Because then she can add that to her poor-me list.

I'm sorry I missed that one! As a two-time IM finisher, please do not judge us all the same! I would reply, "If the marathon was your cool down, then you should be running faster."
OP, I would definitely avoid it. Period. Find another time and/or place to run. I hope things start to improve for you soon.
Side note: Th chicken nugget runners post was pretty great, it was even better when the chicken nugget runner, cheeseburger runner, and other related badges were created
I just wanted to point out that early morning is definitely not necessarily safer. We live in a really safe area and about a year ago, two blocks from us at 630 in the morning, there was a series of armed muggings while women were walking to their cars from their houses. Scared the daylights out of me because that's the time I leave for work in the AM. At that point in time, we didn't have a garage so I had to walk out to my car and made H walk me for awhile. Morning is not always safer.
Join a gym or get a treadmill. I don't even think I'd want to run in a sketchy neighborhood if I had another person with me.
