Thanks guys. It's only for around the neighbourhood, mostly so DH can go out with both kids (DS1 on his own bike) I am looking up helmets now, seems like there are a few online like Greenkitty said.
Kids in CA are required by law to wear helmets but I'm not sure if that applies to trailers. I'll have to peek in the ones I see riding by next time.
I'm not sure if it's required where we live, but DS wore a bike helmet in the trailer. This spring when I start taking DD in the trailer, too, she will also be wearing a helmet.
Which one is it, Star? My parents always rode with my youngest brother in one when I was a kid and I really want to get one for Maggie, since I'm not a fan of the trailers. Does it easily swap bikes? I was looking at the Britax one, which supposedly does.

Yep, even if the laws don't require it, it's still good practice.
re: your helmet laws, @starbound. My friends who went to school in Brisbane went everywhere on their bikes and got in trouble many times for no helmets. I don't know why they didn't just buy helmets.

You know, it's just an older one which our friends passed on to us.. I can't find a brand on there? And it doesn't swap bikes easily, DH spent a good 30 mins (and some swearing) putting it on! ha. The Britax one looks great though..
