The Lifetime Chronicle of "so I'm riding a bus 12 hours to meet a man I've never met..." is an awesome thread to focus on, but also the one by Evee (and the offshoots of that thread titled "Gah! why do we even bother" and "evee" all involve her and how she only has $1 to her name for the next week and how her husband won't get a full time job at the risk of losing their state benefits and yes, of course there's an innocent child thrown in there as well... (don't get me started). And THEN there is the drama over all of the "guest" posts....
thank this is all going on because I don't feel like working today anyways lolz...
If you want to feel sad about your financial situation, like me, head over to MM and look at the $200K+ earners poll.
I just looked, and I'm sorry I did. I got about five responses down - some of those women make more in their yearly bonus than I do in an entire year. Yay!

No!! I don't want to look. I make a PATHETICALLY sad amount of money.
Well the "low income" $50,000 thread was the one that got me down. OUCH!
Yup, I didn't appreciate that either. In the high earner poll, a lot of people were posting as guests or posting for their husband, so it's a bunch of bologna anyway. Think about it, there are hundreds, possibly thousands of people who are on these boards. Of all of them, only about 10-15ppl responded. That goes to show you the percentage. When I thought about that, I didn't feel so bad anymore

Me too. They would probably think I DO live in a cardboard box.

OMG! If I made 50k I'd feel like I was rolling in it! ROLLING.in.it. I make 35k. And I have a masters. It's fun (sarcasm). I guess you don't get into social work type stuff if you want to be rich, though. Luckily my DH makes a lot more than me so we aren't in the poor house. ha ha! But yeah I was driving home one day and talk radio was saying that if you make 35k in San Diego you are living in your car... ha
I would be considering myself rich if I could start working at 50K again! That's lot of $$ considering SAHM=0/yr! LOL! Renata, I think Imma start hitting my H's wallet when he's on the shitter. Hahaha!

I make $30k - and that's a lot more than most of my coworkers. I work in TV news (small market), and it's a notoriously low-paying industry. If you're not willing to work for peanuts, someone else will gladly take your job. The jobs are so few and far between that stations know they can get away with paying peanuts. After seven years, I've honestly had enough and am looking for another career.
Renata, that's so cute of your dad! And nice of your DH to put money in your wallet
Meh, he does it so I don't call him crying w/ the toll booth guy laughs at me when I try to hand him over a credit card, lol.
A similar story happened to me once. DH and I were headed to Philadelphia, and on the turnpike on a portion where you have to pay 75 cents to get through. There's no person at the tollbooth, you just toss change into a catcher and the gate goes up and lets you through (I don't have EZ Pass) . I had no cash, and neither did DH. I had to pull over to the side of the road, while we crawled through my car on hands and knees, checking every crevice for any spare change. He was SO mad at me, but we found enough coins to get through, haha. We learned our lesson and always make sure we make an ATM stop for cash before we take a trip that includes any toll roads!

We make that, but part of it is borrowed student loans for H. Only 3 more years, and I can post on the $200+ thread! But, for my husband's income, not mine... LOL!
Geeze misshark, I knew SD was expensive, but really? Living in your car? I KNOW people in National City don't make THAT much! Ha ha ha!
I'm jealous! My husband makes peanuts & will be for a while. Kinda sucks for me since my moderate income is watered down by a low income. Guess I gotta stop buying things on Amazon!

We're in this situation too...I water down H's income...he does ok, but I picked the worst profession to get into in my state apparently (teaching...can't get a permanent position so just substitute). Also, I'm obsessed with Amazon as well and lied to get the Amazon Mom membership

It's honestly been a very long time coming. He has been in school for freakin EVER. It will be about 12 or more years to get where he will be at that point.
hold up. What is this "ShopRite" you speak of Mav?
Second, I had no intention of making this a depressing thread about our poor asses haha! (although for real, you got to look at cost of living, here in Kentucky 40k = $57,801 in Los Angeles)
BB--ShopRite is a supermarket chain in the Northeast. They have the lowest prices for supermarkets, so people aren't as fancy and no hybrid cars in the parking lot like you see at Whole Foods!
I always think of that video when I am in the whole foods parking lot! LOL! My dad was visiting here from FL and was like what the hell? Because everyone drives a prius! lol

Yup, my parents & I both do the majority of our shopping at Shop Rite too, even though my dad is a manager at PathMark. I get my specialty vegan stuff at Whole Foods or Trader Joes. SR has great prices & doubles coupons

I'm not even going to read that one because it will piss the hell out of me.
MsHark--Even Wegman's seems fancy to me! But it doesn't get REAL in the Wegman's parking lot!
HAHAH! It really does get real in the whole foods parking lot! especially at the La Jolla store. And it's so true about the hybrids... they are SO slow, you'll be walking and won't even know one is behind you.
