I can't really answer a lot of these because I traveled so much with my parents as a kid... And was often pretty unaware of where we were.

Despite your intro to this poll, you're not exactly a travel slacker yourself
I was honestly waiting for a load of people to say that they had been to 100+ countries. I don't know at what point someone has been to "a lot" of countries, but even at 100, that would be just beyond half. Pretty crazy to think about, huh?

Well for most of us 100+ countries would be nearly 3 to almost 4 countries per year for every year we've been alive!
I took half a year off to travel and "see the world". Turns out, the world is big. Really big. I didn't even make it south of the equator. In that time, we "only" visited 20 countries. And that's counting layovers and Vatican City and Hong Kong as their own countries. People always say I've been all over the world, to which I respond, "Not even close. The world is really big."
Not to mention that a lot of countries are really big by themselves. I spent 6 weeks in India and only scratched the surface.

Yeah, I think I'll get to 100 someday (I'm about halfway and I've only been traveling outside the US for about 10 years).
But the world is huge and lots of countries are either so big that you really only visit that country on a trip, even if it is several weeks long or so small and isolated (like the couple dozen small island economies) that it is pretty difficult to get there.
At this point, I kind of expect to get to 100 countries someday. You're right though, many of the countries that I have not been to are pretty difficult/expensive to get to. We joke that when DD is old enough to understand, she is going to be bummed that her friends are headed to Disney World while she is getting dragged to Timbuktu. (Hopefully, it becomes safe enough in my lifetime.)

I grew up traveling overseas, which is the only reason I have been to as many countries as I have, and we are doing the same for our kids. I don't think they realize how lucky they are to be dual citizens, and that, for example, my 5 year old has been to 7 countries. My parents have been to around 90 countries, and they are in their 60s, but they didn't start traveling out of the US til they were in their 30s, so they have done well And they do return trips, they have been to Spain probably 40 times. They love to travel.

No thanks. I have the perimeter of the country pretty well covered except along the Canadian border. I would like to visit the southwest, where I have some holes. We talked about doing a driving tour through AZ/NM this spring, so that would add 1 or 2, but I have the feeling it will be at least next year.
