I agree, you did an awesome job! I think the built-ins do look really bare without books. What's the point of bookshelves without books?? They just hold crap then!
I kind of dig the stairs in your bedroom. They remind me of my great-grandma's old house.
As someone who just spent a year+ stripping trim in her old house, I do urge you to resist the white paint, at least until I can see the woodwork, LOL. The new place sounds great! Where are the pictures of that? I'm the cookie monster of home pictures. MORE!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have great pictures of the house yet. The listing pictures suck, as the market is great here and the sellers knew they'd get multiple offers no matter what they put up, lol. This one showcases some of the woodwork, and you can even see a wee bit of the banister. As you can see, the yellow walls are not helping to quiet the warm tones in the wood.
I remember your mantel post now.
Yes, you need to leave that woodwork alone. White is ok for covering cheap wood. It would be criminal there. That's beautiful. I don't hate the yellow either.
Eta: love those shower light fixtures also! Can't wait to see the rest.
Anyone else want to burn their house down now and start over? Just kidding. That condo is AWESOME. The kitchen is to die for. Your new place is so up my alley. LOVE it!!! I also love how you guys are doing all of this so your g-pa can move in.
Everything looks great! Your hard work should pay off. I have lived and sold 5 different properties and have learned that de-cluttering and staging is so important, especially if you are in a high price point. We went so far with our condo to hire a POD rental to store 1/2 our stuff so we could really make an impact and buy some new pieces. Totally paid off as we had an offer in 2 weeks. Good luck on your sale!
BEAUTIFUL! You should be very proud. I might be using your pics as inspiration. My LR is yellow+grey with some turquoise (like that pillow!) per recs from on here. I just love so much - the clear coffee table, kitchen wall color, um the whole kitchen, the zebra rug, the BR rug, etc.
ONLY nitpicky thing is the daybed in front of the window in the nursery. Makes the curtains look awkward. but honestly, the house will sell itself so no need to worry. :-)
