"I didn't read that post, and I'm not informed third hand. I have an opinion." "Even though Cjoy didn't abuse her mod power in any way I'm mad." "wah, wah, wah." (I'm not sure what was said at this point as it was all a bunch of whining.
The self proclaimed smartest board is once again proving how uninformed they are.
Also, apparently we need to have an official decree of what personal info consists of. A poster's usner name =/= personal info. /gavel
Shit, if someone on GBCN starts posting about having sex with Mr. Smock, including a bunch of details about me, enough for people to connect me with the post, I want that shit deleted. Is this really up for debate?
I read the post today that she C/Pd into the thread. There wasn't any information leaked that I could see. I didn't see a real name, phone number, etc. posted.

Apparently it is.
But the good news is, the integrity of your bangs is safe.
LD, honest question, have you ever had an original thought of your own? You have been vomiting posts all day just recycling shit people have already said a dozen times. At first I kept quiet but now that I see there is no end in sight I will politely ask you to shut the fuck up. Just for 5 minutes ok?

Nope, not going to happen. I'm getting my fill before my Lenten break.
But also, if defending someone who was wrongly accused in a post is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
Edit: LOL, the nope was to can I take a break. NOT to whether I've ever had an original thought.

I can understand that, but it's up to the SO or global mods to handle.

But that depends on what restrictions we want to put on mods now. I don't know if you were part of the post on the mod board earlier this month, but the general consensus was that whoever sees it first should delete for personal info. The SO post was reported for personal info.
We should come up with a policy for what counts as personal info and when mods should step in from other boards. Sure. But it's also worth debating if cjoy crossed any lines by c&p'ing a reported post.

I don't remember if I posted in that post, but I did read it and pretty much took away the idea to not delete things unless they were spam or personal info. So yes we do need to define what personal info is and isn't. I can understand that thread being reported for crossing "the line" though.
I don't remember seeing a report for that thread either, so I'm inclined to believe that Cjoy didn't as well. Plenty of mods have had issues with various mod things since the switch, so it's hard to try to take someone to task for that.
I just think we shouldn't be allowed to C&P any post ever, then we can be sure that nobody is ever posting information that is going to be deleted, that a person thought about deleting, that maybe should be deleted but nobody's reported it yet. And then there will never be any question if the person saw it while lurking on a PUBLIC MESSAGE BOARD, or if they saw it because they were alerted to it, or if one of their FB friends was like "Check this shit out."
cjoy, that's bullshit and you know it. From what everyone is saying you deliberately copied text out of a post you knew was going to be deleted because it had been reported. It doesn't matter what the content of the text was, it was the intent behind it.

*-) If by everyone you mean the other people in that thread who are getting their info from that thread, then yes, everyone is saying it.

Wait, so....the thread was reported because of "personal information".....which was already deleted in the thread, and none of which was C&Ped over here?
I don't know when cjoy started the thread. She did, however, copy text out of the thread once she knew it was going to be deleted.

I'm pretty sure several people who are upset actually saw what went down. I'm allowed to think it was out of line. You're allowed to think it was cool and hilarious. We will agree to disagree.
"This prick is asking for someone here to bring him to task Somebody give me some dirt on this vacuous mass so we can at last unmask him I'll pull the trigger on it, someone load the gun and cock it While we were all watching, he got Washington in his pocket."
Most of us lurk on boards besides our "home." What is so difficult to understand about that? Is obtuse the appropriate word for most of these posters claiming Cjoy only C&P'd because it was reported? Lots of multipage threads get C&P'd.

WHAT was out of line? cjoy didnt abuse any power. She's a regular on the other board. She saw the same post as EVERYONE else and didnt need a mod delete alert to notice it. I lurk there and I saw it, too. She didnt post any personal info. People c&p posts from other boards all the time and they're almost always ones that are flame-worthy or full of drama. Because that's what's interesting about them. And that's why people notice them.

Will you elaborate on how "several people" saw which screen she C&Ped from?
Also I saw no personal information copied over here. it was the thread after everything good had been deleted.
Plus we are in the middle of a quasi-board war with SO. It is natural that people are lurking over there. They are the ones that divorce DBs and we are the ones that stay married to them, naturally.

Cjoy isn't the first person to copy a thread. Lots of threads and text and links have been copied from all over the boards and lots of them get deleted.
It is a forum made up of many different forums and boards and sub-boards. Shit like this happens and will always happen.
Perhaps get butthurt about the folks who posted the personal information? Perhaps make rules about "if you know someone else here who is involved in the drama, don't post"? Perhaps make all boards private so no one can dare copy and paste?
By the time I saw CJoys thread, the other thread had all the information deleted out of it. I couldn't tell you who the wife was or the search terms. MOST of us never saw any personal information.
But I feel that people need to be accountable for themselves. Don't want your personal shit posted all over? Don't write it down. Don't want other boards copying information? Don't go searching for it and posting it! SO brought a lot of that upon themselves. They searched the terms, the posted their guesses, and now people are pissy that other boards know.
Yah, CJoy could have not copied it, but way more people were at fault than just Cjoy.

No one is saying that cjoy is the only person at fault.
But let's make sure one thing is clear: the wife in question NEVER posted publicly about the situation. She never took any of this to the board. So what's the rule when another poster is revealing very personal information about a regular?
