I will not fault Anne Hathaway for wearing this dress as I will fault Prada for designing it. Forget the star, and the stylist - the designer should be ashamed.
Oh, I don't think her dress was THAT bad. Not my favorite, but there have been far worse choices in the past (and at this same ceremony!).
I think it was a very "I'm not a diva" choice to shy away from wearing a similar dress as her friend/costar. What would we be saying if she demanded Amanda wear a different dress or made the choice to outshine her?
The 2nd dress isn't exactly great, but that's probably all they could scrounge up at the last minute. Lesson for next time: Have awesome backup dresses!
No way! I could have walked into any Saks, Nordstrom, or NM and picked a dress off the rack that would have looked better. Heck, the H&M dress looked better than that.
THIS! The one (and likely last) time in my adult life that I've needed a gown, I needed it on 36 hours notice. I called Nordstrom's personal shopping department and walked out with a WAY better dress that was more or less flattering. This should not have been a back-up option. And the styling was awful. Fabulous earrings would have been so much better with the Prada dress than the necklace.
do people really care about this shit? like, really?
DEEPLY!
Questions like this kill me, because message boards have been existing for idle chatter for decades now and people still ask, like this is so much more shallow than any of the other NMMR threads on here every single day. Spare me the indignation.
I wasn't suggesting it's so much more shallow- I simply don't understand how a dress can cause such a fuss. But, I also don't give two shits about movies or awards shows, so there's that.
I love that first dress. Whatever her reason for not wearing it (didn't ask, didn't want to ask, etc) I think she could have found a much better second option.

There is absolutely no excuse for a dress that makes you look like your nipples are sticking out two inches past your boobs. Those darts are unforgivable!
And for some reason I feel like Jennifer Aniston wore almost that exact same dress on Friends in the 90's! Of course, moat of us wore that dress at some point in the 90's!
I'm selfish -- I wouldn't have changed just to not match Amanda. I would have figured, if it bothered her, she could switch dresses!

One more comment. Why is this worst dressed person getting different coverage than the normal coverage? I feel like people are feeling sorry for her and feeling guilty commenting on her dress but when Bjork was a duck, nobody gave a rats ass about being mean

I thought the same thing about Kate Middleton's wedding dress. Her boobs looked really pointy.

When I first saw AH's dress, I was thinking it looked so plain! I did think the back of her dress was lovely though. Overall, her original choice would ahve been much better.
