I definitely don't think that dress is very forgiving.. someone probably has to be in pretty good shape to pull it off. If all of the bridesmaids are, it's probably not a problem, if they aren't then the bride should have thought about that before picking that out.

I am 5'2", fat, and have a DD rack. I got to wear a floor length, strapless dress that I bought 2 sizes big based on my measurements (probably closer to 4 sizes big because my friend took bad measurements) because I was pregnant when I ordered but miscarried by the wedding. The dress was supposed to arrive 6 weeks before the wedding and it arrived 2 weeks before because the dress shop sucked. I spent more on alterations than on the dress and the seamstress didn't or maybe couldn't take it in enough and just didn't hem it enough. I spent the wedding in fear I was going to step on the front of it and my boobs were coming out. The kicker was the dress was red and I look horrible in red. I can't even look at her wedding pix I am so self conscious about how bad I look.
My worst- I was 31 and we all had to wear dresses made by some woman in her house. Ok, except it was over $150 for a homemade dress that definitely looked homemade. Each bridesmaid was a different pastel color (blue, yellow, mint green, lavendar, pink and orange) we basically looked like rainbow sherbet. The best part- the shoes selected for us were clear lucite heels- Seventeen Brand. AMAZING.
I wore this in "tealness" in a wedding last November. The dress itself isn't completely awful but I had to wear it with cowboy boots and a jean jacket :^)

Omg I forgot about the homemade dress I had to wear. It was $270 and the woman never finished any of the 10 of the dresses and mine was so tight my boobs were under my chin and I was terrified it would rip the whole wedding and reception. That one I got literally ripped out of by the MOH's husband at the end of the night.

I wore this in a friend's wedding a few years ago. The worst thing was, the material was so unforgiving. I could barely move or breathe, because it stuck so close to me. It was a DB size 10 dress and I wore a DB size 6 dress the month before for another wedding, so it should have been big enough for me. It was just dumb material. And the color just didn't work.
Except it was baby blue, two piece, and the halter was beaded. It was hideous. And it was 105 degrees that day with no AC in the church.
I also had to wear a poo-brown two-piece. The top was velvet, one shoulder. The bottom was a satin A-line skirt. It was also hideous, but cost me about $500 because I had to have it completely re-made when it arrived two weeks before the wedding. At the time, I was a size 12, but weight 185. I had to explain to the dressmaker that I was really muscular, and only a little fat (I was / am into weight lifting). She told me I was lying about my measurements, and sent me a size 22 dress based on my height and weight instead of my measurements.

I don't have any pics and I can't find it online anymore, but I had to wear this horrible tiered, sweetheart neckline monstrosity for an equally horrible wedding. The thing made me look about four feet wide (I wore a size 2 at the time). Just imagine how it looked on the size 12 maid of honor and she picked out the damn thing. It had so much boning and was horribly made that I had bruises under my arms after the wedding. I threw that thing out as soon as I got home.

I don't have pics on my computer but picture Little House on the Prairie, custom sewn with puffy short "tulip" sleeves (short sleeves that wrap over so they look like tulip petals), a calico bodice (with small flowers in lavender, yellow, blue, pink...) with a sweetheart neckline and a v-waist below the natural waistline, tea-length A-line skirt in lavender satiny-polyester circa 1989.

sneetch, that is terrible. I'm in a wedding in June and haven't found a dress yet. Her vision is lovely- she wants all pale pinks/taupes in chiffon or organza. Short, flowy and very romantic.
But, I have no idea how my body is going to look in 3.5 months, and I look awful in pinks because I have such strong pink undertones to my skin. Blargh.
I think that's the exact dress that my friend had to wear last summer. It was peach though. And my friend's ginormous boobs meant that she had to have the whole dress deconstructed and put back together to fit her boobs.
Mine was a VERY fuchsia, mermaid ballgown. I have hips and ass for days. Mermaid-style is the WORST for my shape. I ordered 4 sizes larger than what I normally wear and it was still WAY too tight on my hips. I was miserable. And of course, it was a full Catholic mass.
