I've been using the diva cup for about 4-5 cycles now, and noticed that my periods are shorter. I am not complaining at all, I was just wondering if anybody else experiences this.
I've been using it for years--my period isn't shorter but I rarely get the cramps I used to get and then usually only the first day. And it is overall seems much lighter after the first two days.

They may be completely unrelated, but I've definitely noticed them being shorter. In doing some googling, others who's experienced it speculate it could be the suction of the cup pulling the blood more quickly therefore making the cycle shorter.
I am sort of bummed. I bought a Diva Cup the week I found out I was pregnant. I never got the chance to use it and I am guessing this size will be too small now.

I first started on the DivaCup when I was still on BCP and did not notice a difference. In the year or so I got periods again between DD1 and getting pregnant with DD2 they were extremely heavy and long but I think that was the fault of my Paragard IUD. The ONE period I had between getting the Paragard out and getting pregnant with DD2 was very short and light but I have no idea what is even normal for me at this point--since that is the only unadulterated (non-BCP, non-Paragard) period I have had since 2004.
Mine are shorter by 2-3 days. I also only get mild cramps vs. cramps that were so awful that I couldn't get off the couch the first day (at least) of my period. It's fantastic.
Another thought for the shorter periods is that tampons and pads have irritants in them so some of the bleeding is from the irritation from the chemicals. I have no idea if it is true, but I have heard it before.

I've heard the same about the chemicals in the tampons and pads.

I think there is a similar theory (internet-based), that cramps are milder bc of the irritants in tampons.
I don't recall my periods getting shorter with the diva. And now they are getting heavier and longer with age. Sucks.

This is interesting. My periods have been shorter and my cramps are less severe since I switched to pads instead of tampons a year or so ago. Now I'm wondering if I can cut my period down to 3 days and have no cramps if I switch to diva cup.
I used to frequent the cloth diaper boards where many of the girls used "mama cloth" (cloth pads). They all said that it helped make their periods shorted and less painful. I figured it was the lack of chemicals.
