I am trying to buy some business cards from a local guy who was recommended by a friend. We have been communicating over email. I asked him to go ahead and make a proof and it's going to cost $65. So he emails this:
"Emptygee, I'll have you pay by credit card on proof approval. What is your bill to info..."
Does he want my address to send a bill? Does he want my cc number? I don't want to write back saying "what do you mean" but I also don't want to send him my cc# if that's not what he meant.
I realize this is a dumb question, but I'd rather look dumb to you guys instead of him...
someone wants to charge you $65 for a proof? for business cards? is this like normal business cards to hand out to people? I have never in my life paid for a proof for anything print wise, and I don't even pay $65 for 2000 cards from our printer

Yes. Well the $65 is for an hour of his design guy's time to design it. The actual cards are not that much.
Sounds like he just wants your address to send the bill. This is all I would send in the first reply email anyways. I would rather look like I misunderstood what he said than to give out too much info.

If we are doing everything over email, why doesn't he email me a bill?
I just sent him my office address. I guess we'll see if that's what he meant...
He might be. Most template "invoices" I've seen have a bill to and a ship to address line. He might just be filling out an invoice/bill to e-mail to you.
Oh, this would make sense. Can you tell this is all new to me?

If you're paying by CC he's going to need the billing address of the card you're using or it's not going to go through. And it's easier to get that address via email first, then have you give him the number, exp. date and PIN on the phone.
