I just wonder if it's too far out from when the show ended to have a viable movie. Then again, I'm super excited for Arrested Development season four and the movie, and that show ended seven years ago, so... And I hate to play this card, but I have more worthy causes to donate money to (I mean, I would just feel really guilty doing this when I could/should put my money to helping people).

at least that's why *i* (and catbus) don't like it.
Especially for more famous people, it's something that regular lending or studio/publisher financing ought to take care of. And it's all a scandal waiting to happen. At some point enough funders are going to get ripped off and President Jeb Bush will sign the Crowdfunding Investor Protection Act of 2021
Heard that the movie already received all its funding within 12 hours!
Kickstarter has some coolness to it, but is ripe for abuse opportunities. My issue is that I have several friends active in the independent film community and I swear they are ALWAYS posting things to FB for various projects they want to support and I get tired of what starts to feel like begging. Yes, I think the arts are important and especially the more independent projects so they don't all get funneled through the profit-lens of Hollywood types but I get tired of the constant requests.
