I'm shorter than you (5'2"), but found the Beco Gemini fit me better than the Ergo. The Ergo felt a bit long and wide on me. H is much taller (6'3"), and was fine with the Ergo's fit, but didn't prefer it over the Gemini; he did prefer the simplicity of the Gemini over the Ergo.
Edit: by "wide" I mean the shoulder straps felt a little wide-set for me.
I am 5'3" and H is 5'6" we have the Ergo sport and it fits us both fine. I have even used it while pregnant (back carry) through the airport with a 24lb toddler. I was very comfortable.
I have the Beco Gemini and love it. I'm 5'6" and Dh is about 5'10" and it fits both of us really well. I tried the ergo on and it just didn't feel right.

Oh, that'd be no good on me. I have really narrow shoulders!
I agree that you should try in person if possible. I think someone else here said once that she felt the Gemini's straps were too wide, so she went with the Ergo. I have no clue how we could perceive them so differently, but there you go.
I have an Ergo, BH Mei Tai, and a Moby. DH prefers the Ergo (he is 6'1"). I am 5'4". I prefer the mei tai. The shoulder straps on the ergo are wide and I feel as if the ergo is too long.
You could go to a store and try the different ones on.
I'm 5'3" and short-waisted with narrow shoulders. The regular Ergo felt huge on me- way too long and wide. We ended up getting the Ergo performance and it fits me a little better, but we still bought it more for DH. When DD was really little, I used the Bjorn or the Baby Hawk Mei Tei. Those both fit me well, but don't support her weight enough now to be comfortable for long. But, I don't wear her that often so I've given up on trying to find something better than the Ergo.
We went to REI to try on the Ergo- they have the regular, sport and performance.
I'm 5'3" and loved our Ergo, as did DH who is 5'11". I used it with DD from when she was pretty new until she was over 3 (she's pretty small weight wise). I'll definitely be using it for #2 as well. I also loved the Moby for when she was tiny, though.
It seems everyone on MMM likes the Beco but I'm hoping to get the Ergo off my registry. Allegedly no one wants to buy things from Amazon so most of my registry is (unfortunately) through BBB who doesn't carry the former. If I don't get it at my showers I'm going to have to figure out which one I want more and just buy that one to start out with.

I have an Ergo, and I really liked it. I didn't try a lot of the others mentioned on this thread -- at the time, there was nowhere in my city to try them on, so I had to buy sight unseen. I ended up getting the Ergo used off of Craigslist.
I have a Babyhawk mei tei, and I preferred that when DD was little (not newborn, but maybe 3 months to 6 months). Then I used the Ergo for a while. Once she was big enough to do a hip carry and hold herself up, I liked the Hotsling I had because it was so simple and easy to carry around.
This time I hope to figure out the Moby. It intimidated the hell out of me last time!

I really like my Ergo performance and from your bump photo I think we're very similar statures. My DH can wear it too.
The one thing I don't love is the shoulder clip - because I have short arms it's not easy to do up by myself (I can if I let the strap out all the way first).
I just saw this and like the look of it: www.moby-go.com/ it maybe would give me a muffin top though
Yeah, definitely try on. We have a Moby, an Ergo, and a Boba Air. I hated the Moby (I am totally incompetent at wrapping), and but we both like the Ergo and Boba Air. H actually stole the Boba from me and keeps it in his car, fit to him, for outings with C.
I'm 5'3 and love my Ergo. DH is 6'0, and it fits him as well. Many of these other carriers weren't around when I bought if 5 years ago, so I have no idea if I'd love the others more.
I have an Ergo and a Beco Gemini that I added when DD was born.
I like both and used them interchangeably...but the Beco was preferable with a tiny baby. I had spring babies and knew that the Ergo insert would be too hot (and it was): the Beco fit the bill better with a smaller baby.
ETA: I should add that while the Beco was one of my 'mommy splurges' (basically something we didn't 'need' but I wanted for #2), it wound up being really nice having two carriers. DH kept the Ergo fit to him and I had the Beco straps set to my dimensions which was really nice...we shared the Ergo with DS and while it was NBD to adjust the straps, having a carrier set all set just for me when I grabbed it was nicer than I'd anticipated.
We liked the Ergo, and we're short (5'4" and 5'6")
This is us, too, exactly. I only grew disenchanted with the Ergo later, when DD was closer to age 2. Despite her short parents, she had (and still has) a very long torso. So while she was well within the weight limits of the Ergo at the time, she got too tall for it and this caused a lot of uncomfortable tugging on the straps. I tried various different carriers at a baby-wearing store before deciding I didn't want to make the $$$ investment in another carrier that far into the game. If we have another child, I will take a more serious look at carriers like Boba, which are recommended for toddlers.
But the Ergo was perfect for a long time. DH never really mastered how to tie a wrap, so this was the only carrier he used.
Granted I haven't used it much, but even with a fresh c-section scar, I find he Ergo to be very comfortable. And you know how short I am. We're using the infant insert right now.
I was given a Bjorn and didn't love it and bought an ergo and like it a fair amount. I don't know if either are convenient, but I got ours at Great Beginnings and I felt like I got I try on a bunch if different styles. It was three years ago so they may not do that anymore, but it's a fun store nonetheless.

We have an Ergo Organic and are very happy with it. I am 5'5 and DH is 5'11, we can both still wear her comfortably (she is 19 months, approx 25 lbs). I am debating getting some type of toddler carrier, but for now the Ergo still works.
Have you looked into see if there is a local babywearing group near you? Ours has various carriers to try/test/borrow.
I have an ergo, moby, beco, ring sling and mei tai, and the beco is my favorite - although i used the ring sling almost exclusively for the first 4 months
I registered for a beco because I use an ergo when I am nannying and I find the straps wide and bulky. I imagine anyone short or petite would feel the same.
I used a ring sling and a wrap when each of my babies was just born and then moved to the Ergo when they were about 5 months old, skipping the infant insert. I also still use woven wraps and the ring sling with my 10 month old. Like Anna I was happy with the Ergo until my long torsoed daughter out grew it, and still use with my son. With my daughter, we switched to a toddler mei tai and then a pre-school sized Kinderpack, which we still use on occasion. We rarely use a stroller, so our baby carrying devices get a a lot of use. I tried the Gemini when my daughter was about 18 months old and I wasn't a fan, because the seat was too narrow and didn't support her legs well. I used it with my niece when she was a few months old and really liked it for that though.
