Eav, that's great! Maybe Friday, depending on weather? A gets her tubes Wednesday, so I just want to make sure she's feeling okay after, but we'd LOVE that! I'll text you! And yeah, dude is an asshole for doing it. I don't want to put too much about it in case someone googles, but he IS one of the guys Matt evacuated out from the mission, so thanks a lot for making him feel like shit when he helped save your life. Matt would NEVER say that, but well, I would.
And ashley, that's exactly what I thought! Why would he feel guilty at all?! And from the first mention of getting it, and even during the press conference after, he said he was only accepting it on behalf of his men, because they were team. So why would it even be an issue?
Also, I'm sorry some of you are sick and that a lot of you are frustrated and down. That's no way to start a week, and I'm sending healthy and positive vibes to all of you!

What a douche! Jealousy really brings out the ugliness in people!
Dorothy Zbornak - that is complete BS if they are telling you there are no antibiotics you can take. There are plenty of classes out there they can use, especially since you don't even have an allergy, just an intolerance. Eff!!! Madison has taken control of the keyboard!!!
Whew, back to no italics.
lauranicole91 - sorry to tell you but the reason you are still stuffy is BECAUSE you used the nasal spray for longer than 3 days. The reason it is limited to 3 days is because the active drug causes rebound congestion. You feel fantastic, but when the drug wears off, you feel the same (or worse than) when you used the spray. You seriously just need to start weaning yourself off the spray.
My bitchfest is also that I have a ridiculous cold. I felt like I got hit by a truck Thursday and then I could not breathe through my nose at all. I used a decongestant nasal spray (because I didn't want anything systemic that can affect supply) for 2 nights and then bought a netipot. The netipot only helps for about 30 seconds and then I'm blocked again. Gah! Yeserday was gorgeous outside and I wanted to run but I'm so stuffed and tired and now my chest hurts from all the coughing. Wah!!!!

rxbeth, what can I take? Check's in the mail for your consultation fee. I am dying over here.
A second generation cephalosporin such as cefaclor. It is related to penicillin but you don't have a true allergy and even if you did, there is only about a 0.3% chance of cross reactivity.
Azithromycin or clarithromycin - both macrolides antibiotic.
The above drugs are routinely given to children so even if they do cross into breastmilk, it's not a big deal. You might want to watch out for GI upset or thrush in BB but otherwise, it would be fine.
I took a course of Biaxin (clarithromcyin) about 6 weeks pp for a sinus infection.

I just barf with penicillin. BB doesn't have any allergies. Thank you so much!! I'm going to talk to her again tomorrow under the guise of having spoken to my gynecologist about it. I think that might sound better than telling her I consulted my Canadian internet pharmacist.

um, I want to kick that man AND the reporter directly in the junk. That is absolutely fucking ridiculous. He is a HERO and for anyone to say otherwise shows that they are just straight jealous and idiotic.
I would have asked the reporter if he felt guilty for being an asshole.
I'm sorry your family is gone but time will pass quickly and you will see them again!
I'm ready for my husband to come home. He's been gone since January 16th. His returning ticket was bought today and he comes home next Tuesday. It can't come soon enough! I'm ready for his help with daily tasks, and I'm ready to start having hot kinky sex all the time.
I have strep throat AGAIN. Last Sunday I took the last of my antibiotics. Two days later my throat started hurting again. I figured it couldn't be back but probably just a cold because Lillian was sick. Well it had gotten worse, I saw white dots back there last night and the doctor just confirmed I have it again and a fever which I didn't know I had. Now onto a stronger antibiotic. Oh and now my ears are fucked up too...Antiobiotic, flonase, sudafed and mucinex are what I need to take. Waaahhhh!!
And last night I felt so shitty and DH said he would get up with L if she got up. She got up and kept on screaming until she saw me. I had to bedshare with her and get shitty sleep again because she wouldn't stay with H. When I dropped her off at DC this morning she cried when I left Waaahhhh!!

Ugh I know, I know. I'm just so desperate in the moment that I am being stupid with it. I hate not being able to sleep or not be able to breathe while working. I read the label I swear. what else can I take to relieve the pressure and congestion?

I've been able to take one seudaphed and not screw up my supply when my sinuses are terrible. Then I neti it out when I can finally move air through my nose. I also love the sinus stuff that I recommended to Dorothy earlier in this thread. I hope all of you feel better soon! ETA: Dorothy, not muppet. Ugh.
lauranicole91 - i would go to the doctor and tell him what's going on and make a weaning plan of the other spray. You can't just stop cold turkey. They would likely want to start a steroid nasal spray. That can give you some relief until you can get things back to normal. And then I would NEVER take that stuff longer than 3 days again. It's a great drug short term but causes way too many problems when you use it longer than prescribed.

I hope everything goes smoothly with getting her tubes! Friday works great or basically any day next week. I think Colin has a doctors appointment next week at some point but other than that, we are just hanging out!
DS decided to poop about 4 minutes before we were headed out the door to DC. Bring him in to change his diaper and when I've got the diaper off, he shoots out another turd. Had to grab a wipe and catch it. You can pretty much count on it being a crappy day (pun intended) when you get pooped on to start the day. Got to work and the on-call weekend person pretty much pushed off most of the patients to this morning.... so I had 10 new people to see today. I guess I'm glad that we're staying busy, but we get paid nicely to be on-call...and you're supposed to actually work and see the patients when you're on-call!

Oh man. That sounds crazy! I haven't taken it since about 12 hours ago. I'm not completely miserable. I just took a regular decongestant about an hour ago and tried to use my neti pot. Neti pot didn't work because I'm too blocked I guess. It just kept running out my mouth. Blech.
Looks like I'm in for a mouth breathing drool fest tonight while sleeping. How long before that spray is out of my system?
lauranicole91 - it's not an issue of getting the spray out of your system but of getting your nasal passages back to normal. I probably wouldn't quite cold turkey but maybe increase the amount of time between uses. If you were using every 12 hours, try every 14 hours for a few days, then keep increasing the interval. In the meantime, a steroid spray can help. Just be prepared to be miserable for a bit.
Patients always think I'm nuts when I talk to them in the pharmacy and I'm all, "DON'T USE MORE THAN 3 DAYS. YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!"
Those sprays are really just for a short term benefit. Even just using it for 2 days, I was pretty miserable the first day I didn't use it. Finally today I'm feeling better and I only used once a day for 2 days. Good luck and don't hesitate to consult me or any real life pharmacists! lol

Not sure if you will still come back to read this. But so far I haven't used the spray or taken a decongestant pill since what I said in my previous post. I feel amazing today. I wasn't even clogged at all when Pey woke up for her MOTN feed. Hopefully things stay like this for the remainder of the day.
I just don't understand why the make a stupid spray the makes you feel great and symptom free but in the end make you worse and feel like you can't quit using it. Ugh. I don't think I have the self control to ever use it again/correctly.
Thanks so much for the wake up call and info. Haha.

I never knew that either, until a girl I worked with was addicted to nose spray! I'm afraid of that shit now!

I'm glad you haven't had any problems today.
It is a good drug. People just need to read instructions and use medications properly. It's the same idea behind "get the red out" Visine. It will get out for a while but it comes back looking worse. It just for temporary relief until whatever is causing the issue subsides. It's just the nature of the mechanism of action of this type of drug.
No drug is 100% side effect free. You can get Steven-Johnson syndrome from pretty much any drug out there but it is rare. When it happens, it's obviously life threatening and it sucks. It's all about risk vs benefit.
