Jack's party was on Saturday. His molars are coming in so he was a little whiny and clingy. But he loved his cake and presents.
Month pictures all lined up:
We did a cookie bar, so there were chocolate chip cookies and whipped cream, strawberry and chocolate sauces, toffee, sprinkles, peanuts, mini m&m's, and cherries to top them:
Closer picture of the cake:
For birthday wishes:
Pizza for lunch:
He wasn't sure about his smash cake at first:
He really got into it... I found cake in various baby rolls all afternoon:
Our gift to him; he was pretty indifferent, but he was right into destroying the Sesame Street decorations:
I LOVE that birthday board, and I might steal that idea...is it chalkboard or poster?
I stole it from Pinterest! Ha. I used foam board from Staples. And the writing is all done in chalk markers.
My cousin was like "should we move that off the food table? I don't want the chalk to wipe off..." But you can touch it all you want, it won't wipe off. I do think I might like to frame it though.
looks great! I'm glad he had a good day! I love your birthday board- I keep seeing them on pinterest but am afraid mine will look ugly!
I'll tell you my secret... I kept the plastic on the package of foam board, printed the fonts I wanted off the computer, placed and taped them where I wanted them, traced with a pencil to make an imprint into the board--that way, when I took the plastic off the board, all I had to do was trace over the imprints with the chalk markers. Then I used a ruler for the straight separation lines and did the pictures and squiggly lines freehand.
I'm not going to lie, it WAS time-consuming. I'm really happy with it though.
...the person who originally showed me the link on Pinterest did one for her daughter's birthday. When I made one she pitched a fit and called me a plagiarist and said I should know better because I'm a teacher...

I loveeee that birthday board- can you post the link you used? Or give us a really dumb person version of a step by step tutorial? I'd love you forever.

You are a mf'ing genius.
And poo on that person. Not like she came up with the idea!
I love the birthday board! I thought about trying one, but I'm not sure I will have time. Looks like a great party and Jack is going to love his bike. I spent a long time yesterday walking all over the place with Emerson in her bike. I'm glad everything went well!
Looks like we are a group full of plagiarists because we all love that board idea! Yours looks awesome and I bet it was better than that friend of yours ,and that's why she's being a vagina cramp about it!

Great party! I like the poster you made. I remember seeing first year pics that our photographer did of a lot girl and the mom had made something similar with a chalkboard. It was in the background of some of the pictures.

I wish I had progress pictures! The sizing of the fonts was kind of guesswork/trial & error. I thought of the dimensions of the board in relation to the size of standard page sizes in Word. I *do* have the file saved with all the text I printed so the sizes are all accurate. You could use it as a template and just edit it?
If anyone wants me to post the file, I can do that!
