Um, the onus is on Jenny here, not Jim. He was a BOYFRIEND. Not the dad, never officially the step dad. Yes, in an ideal world it would be nice if he were still involved if that's what her son would like.

But this isn't the ideal world and if SHE has a problem w/ an ex boyfriend not staying involved in her son's life, then maybe she shouldn't be dating right now.

Her child = her responsibility.
