Sorry to add to the recent abundance of daycare posts, but we started looking this week and I'm feeling really bad about how much time our baby will spend at daycare. With my current, and my H's planned, work schedules he will likely need to be there around 55 hours per week. I really like my job and don't want to leave it, but i'm worried something will need to change once he's here. How long does your child spend each day or week in daycare?
In the fall, we'll have a nanny for the baby 8-4-ish mon-wed (Lu will be at preschool in the mornings) and then I'll be home with both on thurs and fri.
There is a WA state law that kids can't be in DC more than 10 hours/day.
One provider mentioned that babies can be there for up to 10 hours per day, but I had no idea it was a law. Thank you, and ugh! I think we def need to come up with a plan, because I don't see how we can make 10 hours per day work with our current schedules.

49 hours a week. He's there for 11 hours on Mondays and Tuesdays and 9 hours on W-F. The 11 hour days are the ones where I do dropoff and pickup. Between my commute and my required 1 hour lunch, it is what it is.
8-6 more or less (so 50 hours or so). I'm ok with it. I've worked from home with a nanny these last few years and I'm ok with sending my kids to quality care. I'll pick up early when I can but this is really the best we can do.
I've never heard anything about WA having a law against a kid being in daycare more than ten hours a day. This is the only reference to the regulation I could find, and it's not quite that black and white... "A child may not be in care for more than 10 hours a day except as necessitated by the parents’ working hours and travel time to and from the program." jenny1980, do you have more information? My center has never mentioned this not is it written in their policies, and they have pretty much everything in writing.

Yeah, I have it somewhere--it was referenced in a few faqs from places we looked at. I'll see if I can find it :-)
