DH and I are going to an NHL game tonight, and I've never been to one. I think it will be fun, something different. Anyways, I don't know what to wear.
Is it very cold in those arenas? It will be 55 degrees out tonight, so I don't want to bundle up if I don't have to. I also don't want to be that chick freezing in a tshirt who should have known better
I think it's a little chillier than normal, esp. if you're sitting near the ice. It's super casual though. I'd just wear jeans and a sweater. Or wear a cadigan if you're the kind of person who gets warm easily.
I wear jeans, sneakers, a t-shirt or a thin long-sleeved shirt, and my jersey. During the winter I've worn a sweatshirt under the jersey sometimes.
You'd also be fine with a light sweater or a cardigan, or maybe something like a yoga jacket. I've also worn just a tshirt and I've been fine.
I think the main thing is to wear shoes that make it easy to walk and climb steps. And don't bring a huge bag because (a) they'll probably be checking through it at security, and (b) you'll need to keep it at your feet or under your seat through the game.
Which team are you going to see? I'm so disappointed that the Devils didn't make the playoffs this year
What everyone else said. It will be a little colder than a restaurant, but not like being outside. Wear a jacket, and then you can take it off inside if you're warm. It's not super warm - they have to keep it a little cool and dry because of the ice surface - but it's nothing like being outside for a football game.
Have fun! Hockey is my favorite sport. I started going to games with my dad as a kid, and I still try to do a few every year, especially when "my" team comes to town.
I always think it is cold in there. I wouldn't wear a coat, but I do take a thicker jacket. Last time I only wore a sweater and I was soooo cold. Maybe I just get cold easily.
Have you been ice scaring or to any other ice event? The temperature should be about the same.
Can you borrow a jersey? Definitely wear the teams colors if you can. I know that going to a Caps game and not wearing red is a major faux pas. Have fun - depending on the team, you could be going at a very exciting time!
I wear a t-shirt and sweater. I think the two layers provide just enough warmth. I tend to wear scarves, and I do sometimes leave my scarf on inside the arena. But I wouldn't bundle up in a winter scarf; a thin one will be fine.
I don't really do team colors, unless it's by coincidence, and I definitely don't wear hockey (or any other sports) jerseys. As long as I'm not wearing the opposing team's colors, I wear what I want. It won't diminish the fun. I'm not the biggest sports fan by any means, but I do like watching hockey. Have fun!
PS - We'll be a the Blue Jackets/Predators game tonight. Google tells me that if the BJs win, there's a chance we'd make the playoffs---which is kind of huge considering we ended up in 30th place out of 30 teams last year
So, it would be a great "atmosphere" for the game!
