I cruelly thought she was telling the truth. Until someone pointed out the pregnancy. That's incredibly reckless to do while pregnant and I don't believe anyone would do it. It's one thing to be stupid and race when sick. It's another to do it when pregnant.

While I know plenty of people run while pregnant, I don't think I've ever heard of someone doing something as punishing as 12 miles in the first trimester. I wouldn't.
ETA: Especially that fast. I mean, I know it's not suuuper fast for some people (it is for me), but 8 minute miles for an entire half?
I ran a half right before finding out I was pregnant last year and it was the most fucking exhausting thing ever. But it took me 2:40 so there is that. I feel like bad pointing out that I am sitting next to Angelaa here.
Congratulations! How nice that something is going so well during this difficult time.
I feel like such a slug these days and I'm only 8 weeks, not 11 or 12 weeks like you, nor battling infections and ruptured ear drums. You really know how to push through the pain.
Ok I was coming to say congratulations and then I saw the rest of the comments. Hmm.
Also, I am impressed with everyone in this thread that ran while pregnant. That's how I found out I was pregnant-puking while running for about a week straight. That was the end of my running in 2010. LOL

What the fuck is wrong with all you people? Do you seriously sit there and push everyone new away at fear someone new could be added into your "clique"? And you wonder why REGULARS are now GBCNing as well as new people.

Grow the fuck up!
Just the crazies. But I think that's pretty self evident. I'm not quite yet a "regular" as you like to put it, but I don't find it hard to fit in here at all. But then again I'm not one to create drama or lie pathologically.

I have no idea if she's being honest or not, but I did want to say that a half (or even a full) is not that risky during pregnancy, provided the person is well-trained and doesn't push herself.

I agree. However, it was her first time and she ran it in 1:48. For the vast majority of people, that would mean probably not well-trained (and sick), and pushing oneself. You know what's funny? I think this bothers those of us that run more than some other lies would. I can only speak for myself, but I work really hard at running. I don't know why exactly, but it just bugs when it feels like someone is being dishonest. There's, like, a code with this shit. You don't exaggerate your times. It undermines the efforts of the other people that accomplish the same goals. I guess it shouldn't, but it feels that way.

Oh, I'm a runner too. I've run 5 marathons and 5 halves, albeit nowhere near this fast. (My fastest whole was 5.5 hours, so I'm not breaking any records.)
But I do have a lot of friends who accomplish this time pretty handily. It's a great time, but not a super impressive one.
She mentioned the half a few weeks ago so I don't doubt that she was planning on running it and she seems pretty fit so I don't think this time is beyond the realm of possibility.
However, it's the strep throat and busted ear drum that give me pause. I would not be running any road race, let alone a half, this soon after battling that.
My best time ever was when I was hungover and it was raining and I just wanted to get that shit done.
That's all I have to add.
Yes! My best 5k time was hungover, and I hadn't had any water to drink at all since noon the day before. I knew I was either going to be really fast, or die that day.
It's more telling than anything else that someone posts something, people are skeptical, then the poster just never returns to the thread. Something like running a race isn't a hard to prove. Take a pic of your number tag or medal and viola! No one can say anything.
Three? I thought it was only two. One by the coward AE and one by the poster who, while urging us not to judge before we have all the facts, once posted that she'd never consider dating outside of her race.
For the record, I don't know if L&L is lying or not; but I do know this board has been collectively burned more than once by assholes playing Catfish. So for someone to get all OMG YOU GUYS ARE SUCH MEANGIRLS about shit like this is really pretty rich.
Phone like.!
