My friend on the local board has been losing weight using the Diet Bet app, so I was thinking of joining or maybe starting an ML one if there's enough interest. Basically, everyone puts in a bet (usually $25) and the goal is to lose 4% of your weight in 28 days. Whoever hits that goal splits the pot. The site regulates the pictures and weigh ins, you just join. Would anyone be interested? I want to start sometime next week.
How do they verify you're not lying? Make you post pics of the scale, or something?
I may be interested.
I've done one before - they give you a 'code word' you have to write on a piece of paper the 1st day and take a pic of you on the scale with that word (digital scale) - same thing on the last day
Hi! I'm here a lot - I'm just a creepy lurker now (and I post on GP)
I LOVE seeing the twins - Roxxi kept me up to date when all of that excitement was going on (It took me a min to remember her user name haha - it's been a second since we were both posting)
For me that would be 2lbs a week. I'm pretty fucking good between diet and exercise about 90% of the time, and I'm still only losing about 1lb a week. I don't think being perfect the other 10% of the time would get me to 2lbs a week. And my calories are LOW- I set it at 1200 a day. And I work out. IDK I think 4% in 28 days is high. But maybe I'm just an underachiever. lol
Have you tried bumping up your calories to 1300? I notice that I have to eat like 900 or 1400 to lose consistently. Of course, 900 is unhealthy so I eat about 1400
Hmm... let me know if this happens and I'll decide then. I am doing boot camp starting next week, so that should help. I have to lose a lot. Like, A LOT ALOT A LOT.

Would anyone be opposed to family joining in too? I was thinking of asking my sister if she wanted to join in, and maybe you guys have husbands or whoever that may help keep you accountable. Just an idea. DH may join one of the higher bet ones because he could easily drop 7 lbs if he wanted.

This is me. I want to winnn $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
lol
Go join one of the 10k bets and then buy me dinner when you win!

I usually end up eating about 1300-1400 a day. I just set it at 1200 so that I don't look at my day and say "well! I've got an extra 200 cal today, lets go grab some ice cream!" lol. Its a total mind game to me. The weights coming off ok - I've lost 23lbs since I started in February. Which is slower than I'd like, but at least I'm seeing progress
there's someone who reviews all the pics and if they are concerned it's fishy you have to take another one

I gotcha. I'm the same way- I have mine set at 1500 on run days and 1600 on lifting, and then I just don't log my workout so I don't eat back any unplanned calories.
"No, at least not in the US, because the outcome of your dietbet is based on skill, not luck. Unless your refrigerator has been retrofitted to work like a slot machine, your weight is under your control."
That would be kinda awesome. Put in a quarter. Maaaybe get a carrot. Maaaybe get a chocolate pie. Maybe nothing!
Eh. I think it's motivation enough just to get my $$ back (vs. someone else getting my cash). Even with cheaters, you'll still win if you meet your own goal.
