Anyone up for a black tie Style Me? (Bodyglide triumph!!)

We're going to a black tie event next weekend.  I decided to try out rent the runway, so I have two dresses coming:

Not sure which will fit/look best, but I'm hoping for the long one. 

What type of shoes/jewelry/purse would you pair with this?  Ideally stuff that would work with either.

How should I do my hair (it's shoulder-length, layered, and fine/straight)?  I have an appointment with a professional, and I was thinking a loose and low updo, but I'm open to suggestion.

That first dress is a stunner!

I would do strappy gold sandals for either dress. I would likely wear some type of lariat necklace (although I do like the necklace shown on option 1 model), diamond studs, a big colored cocktail ring, and a colored minaudiere (to break up the neutrality of the dress/shoes).

I think a shoe that's somewhere in the nude/gold family is the way to go.

Low updo and gold heels sounds rocking. I would keep the jewelry minimal since the dress is spectacular. Maybe some teardrop earrings.

I would go with a bare neck, big bracelet, giant stud earrings, and a fun bag. Fun bag would be a clutch that, if it was black had a cool shape to it, but ideally was a pop of a color, like cobalt blue, cherry red, etc.

Definitely big tall strappy sandals, in a metallic color or nude.

I would do Chopper or Half Baked or Sidecar all over the lid (prime first of course)
Snakebite or Darkhorse in the crease, really heavy, then blend well.
Use a dark brown liner, maybe something with a bit of shimmer.
Load up on mascara.

She doesn't use all UD products - she starts out with a base layer that is another brand - but she goes into the blending and layering pretty well.

The long dress is faaaabulous. I would do whatever I had to do to make it fit. Are you allowed to do temporary alterations (hem tape, etc.)? Definitely post pics once you get them!

Yep!  I believe they even ship with hem tape, and in the real people reviews they openly talk about doing a few small stitches to aid in fit.

Guys. We need to talk about this dress...

It's gorgeous and fits great, but it is scratching the shit out of my skin, and I have hives from it.

What do I do?!? Is there a magical trick for that, or am I making a mad dash to the mall tomorrow, or wearing my decidedly less awesome backup?

I think it might be time for the backup if the awesome dress is secretly evil and gives you hives. What if you put a lot of lotion on before you put the dress on...you know, like how swimmers grease themselves up??

A quick google search recommends spraying your skin with liquid band-aid to protect it. It's worth a try!

PP has a good idea. I would try body glide, the runners stuff. That is such a bummer. The dress is gorgeous!

Liquid bandaid sounds like a great idea. They normally coat wedding dresses with a small amt of wax to protect your arms. Perhaps call a bridal store and ask for advice?.
