I just finished 11/22/63! So now I'm lost without a book - I need some good recommendations! I preferrably want to start a series. I loved Hunger Games, if that helps. I also like anything to do with mystery/suspense. Or, anything really. haha
I started the outlander series. It is pretty good. There are some decent sex scenes in it though, so if you don't like that I wouldn't read it. It's not a romance novel but it does involve a couple, time travel and British stuff.

Sex scenes are a-ok by me!! DH and I were cracking up at the barely there sex-scenes in 11/22/63. haha. I have heard of that series before here I think... I'll check it out!

I really liked The Host by Stephanie Meyer.
I was so excited for the movie to come out. Then I read it already came out and flopped in the box office. Where the heck have I been? But the book was good. You have to get through the first third of the book, but it gets so good.
Regina Philange, I know, I cant believe I finished that one too. I started it when we first did the book club here, and only got like 300 or so pages in. I hit a boring part and couldnt get through. But then DH kept telling me to keep going (he read it and loved it), so I finally picked it back up. Finished the rest in about a week. It was very good!
I will look into the Host, too! I think I saw like 2 previews for it total, so I knew it came out, but I felt like it didnt do so well because I never heard much else about it
"The Passage" and "The Twelve" by Justin Cronin (trilogy. The 3rd isn't out yet). Sooooo addictive and good. Everyone I have recommended it to has loved it (but sent me pissy texts at 2 AM because they can't stop reading and to to bed, lol)
I just read "the 5th Wave" which is the first of a to be trilogy - another post apocalyptic/young adult/female heroine book. It was surprisingly good - I finished it in 2 days.
I'm on a bit of a non fiction kick. I just read all of John Krakauers' books ("Into Thon Air", etc) ad really liked most of them. I'm now reading Cheryl Strayed's "Wild" - her memoir of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. I'm enjoying it.
Do you like historical fiction? I loved Karen Harper's Elizabeth I series. It's a murder mystery series, based on the fact that Queen Elizabeth had lots of people who hated her and wanted her dead. You have to suspend reality a bit (because Elizabeth actually helps solve the mysteries), but it's very well written and historically accurate.
The first one is called the Poyson Garden (yes, that's the actual spelling).

I read Into Thin Air. DH just read Wild. He reads every kind of hiking book there is. He would love you! LOL. I'm not much into that type of book, though, but I am looking up the Justin Cronin series now!
I tried the Delirium series, but couldn't get into it for some reason. So, I'm just starting In Too Deep by Michelle Kemper Brownlow, who is a fellow Penn Stater. It's about a girl who is in an abusive relationship and it's loosely based on the author's own experience.
I'm reading the second book in a YA dystopian series by Kristen Simmons. The first is called Article 5. The second is called Breaking Point. I also really enjoyed the Birthmarked series by Caragh. You already read the Divergent series by Roth, right? Oh, also Prodigy by Marie Lu. Second book in that series just came out, too.
I'm going to second the Delerium series and the Divergent series. Outlander is good but they are long books and can get boring but are totally worth it if you can push through.
If you want steamy sex scenes, The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is amazing!
I'm in the middle of The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning and The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.
Have you read the girl with the dragon tattoo series? DO IT!
For books that aren't really series but same character I am a big fan of Michael Connolly. He has two "collections" the ones with the cop (most of his) and the lawyer ones starting with the lincoln lawyer. They are crime/suspense/thriller type books. His most recent ones have them both. I love his books, have never been disappointed in one.
I just read the silver linings playbook, a quick read and I enjoyed it. Before that I read The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult which was extremely depressing.
Now I'm reading the new james patterson, it's ok I guess. I lost interest in JP back when other people started writing his books but this one seems decent so far.
Ive had someone recommend the dark towers series by SK to me. I've always avoided it because it seemed intimidating. I love SK however he can be "wordy" . I felt 11/22/63 was a different sort of SK in a way, a bit lighter.
So if you had a little bit of a hard time getting through that then maybe the dark tower might not be the best choice of series? Not sure. But I found 11/22/63 to be a very easy read but I have found sometimes with SK that I'm like WOW DUDE, ENOUGH DESCRIBING OF THINGS. haha sometimes it seems the man can spend twelve pages talking about a shadow
As far as mysteries, I like the Inspector Gamache/Three Pines books by Louise Penny. I like most of Nelson DeMille's books, too. Charm School is my favorite.
My last five library checkouts were: A Land More Kind Than Home (Wiley Cash) - so good, super intense, totally heartbreaking Girl in Translation (Jean Kwok) - meh The Marriage Plot (Jeffrey Eugenides) - awesome. I love everything he has written The Round House (Louise Erdrich) - very good Peaches for Father Francis (Joanne Harris) - the newest Vianne Rocher book, the first was Chocolat

I also am reading the sequel to, Beautiful Disaster right now. Its called Walking Disaster. I liked the book, but for some reason i don't think you would like it.
I also want to recommend If I Stay and Where She Went by Gayle Foreman. They are both quick reads but the emotion in them is amazing!
Gone Girl was great too but I don't know if I see you liking it.
I also recommend joining goodreads.com. You can put in and keep track of all the books you have read and want to read. It also can give you recommendations based on the books you enter in there.
Aahhh, you guys... so many books!! I am starting a list on my iphone but maybe I should try the goodreads thing. I looked up Gone Girl - that looks good!!! I think I want to start with that one at least!! Then maybe... Divergent??? I dont know. I am lost... so many of these sound so good!
And laurack, I totally LOLed at that. Stephen king does get wordy. I had a huge lag in 11/22/63 because I thought it was super boring at parts. But I was also first reading it when Camden was little and I just didnt have the time or energy. I finally picked it back up and finished the rest in a week. I do like him as an author, though, but his books are looong.
