So I've been away, my sister's husband died yesterday morning. Oddly enough in very much the same fashion as my husband. He was a seemingly very healthy 43 year old, worked out every day, ate only good things, super strict about it all. He died of a massive heart attack, my sister woke up to him making noises- called 911 when she couldn't wake him- and they took him to the same er my husband was at- same scene, older body. Ugh. Turns out he head diseased heart, without knowing it. The absolute worse part is the 8 year old who no longer has his father. I was only 2 years older when my dad died. All day I was having flash backs to my husband dying and my dad dying.
So get checked out and don't assume you are in perfect health because never know.

How terrible. T&P for your sister and the rest of your family. I can only imagine the kind of pain you are all in, especially with his death echoing your husbands.
Oh Honey! I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my father when I was 16 and I still have flash backs to this day about it. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Feel free to PM me if you need some one to vent to or just a place to put your thoughts.

How would one know if they had a heart condition like this? Is it something that would show up in a regular physical, or is there something specific to ask for?
I actually have no idea- my husbands heart problems were known to his family and him- but they kept me in the dark. My sister's husband I think only went to the doctor when he was sick or when he tore his ACL. We are taking my nephew in to find out if he has it, what we need to look for and all that jazz, as soon we get the official report with the exact language. I should know more then about what they need to do to find out. Thanks everyone. Its exhausting. We are all still in shock and my sister has now started staying at her sister in laws house which is too far for me to drive between, and my mom had a horrible night leaving me to not want to leave her alone at all. My nephew went back to school today, so hopefully he does ok. I plan to take him the teddy bear my 5th grade class gave me when my dad died. Hopefully it helps him a little.
