She was abducted by a 54yr old sexual predator from a Walmart near my city.
The man began talking to the mom and girl in Walmart and then offered to take the girl up to the McDonald's at the front of the store. The mother let her child go with this strange man.
The girl was just found dead.
WTF people. WTF.
Parents are supposed to protect their children. She handed hers over to a convicted sex offender.
What the hell was she thinking?!!? I would never let my child go off with a stranger. That said, I can't begin to imagine the guilt and torment she is going to live with for the rest of her life and my heart is absolutely broken for her.
I just read this. It is chilling and I am so sad to hear that the sick bastard killed her!!! And what kind of mother would let her 8 year old go off with a stranger!?! There has to be more to the story...
In the stories i'm reading, they haven't made any mention of the mom handing the child over to him.
Same here, but I admit that after reading that they found her body, I haven't read any other articles. It makes me sick.
DH was almost kidnapped at a mall when he was a kid. The guy had him by the hand and was walking out of the mall with him when DH's dad saw them and got him back.
Her name was really Charish Lilly Perriwinkle? Wow. I hope the news is wrong and that the mom really didn't let him take her. And why was the kid at Walmart at 11pm?
You're judging her name and how late she was up? Really?

Hm. I definitely read that she let him go to the McDonald's with him in the store when he offered to buy her something. All the women waiting outside the old navy this morning were talking about it. People on Facebook are mentioning this too. I wonder if that was originally released then pulled. I'm gonna go look again.

Really. Let's just totally forget the fact that a sex offender kidnapped and murdered the girl and focus on the fact that *gasp* a kid was at walmart late on a Friday night.
Charish Perriwinkle had been shopping with her mother Friday night.Sgt. Lonnie Mills of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office told The Florida Times-Union that the pair was befriended by a man who offered to take Charish to buy a snack. The man is a registered sex offender.Sheriff's Office spokesman Shannon Hartley said Saturday that the 56-year-old man had been taken into custody after officers surrounded his van.About an hour later, the girl's body was found at a church. Our rule is you don't go anywhere Mama can't see you. No I don't care if it's just the next aisle over - I can't see through walls. And we don't talk to strangers. Or walk anywhere with strangers, or accept anything ever from them no matter what it is.
But why? Because they will take you and cut you and kill you and you will never see your family ever again. It happens all the time. Got it?
We've had this conversation a few times. I'm all about shock value when it comes to stranger danger.

Yeah. Don't judge. That poor mom.
It isn't a great area of town. I wouldn't be comfortable in that Walmart myself. But this can happen anywhere.
I just read a report that he befriended the family in the store and then took Charish to "get a snack".

Uhm, I only judge the fact that our criminal system is pathetic to let a dude with a pretty fucked up criminal past (kidnapping a kid in the past, lewd acts on kids, and assault on a kid) walk around. But then again, the hacker that exposed the Steubenville rapist is facing a longer jail sentence than the rapist so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Locally there is some outrage that he was released. People furious when they did a press conference to announce her death.

Oh, my bad. I totally missed you were judging our justice system by questioning the child's name and how late she was out.
