Hello, immigrant here to tell you that I was a late watcher of princess bride and I just want to say:
THERE IS NO AMOUNT OF COOL MEH! NOR AMUSEMENT BY HOW FREAKED PEOPLE GET WHEN THEY HEAR YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS MOVIE THAT IS WORTH NOT TO SEE IT!!!
I didn't read all the replies. But as an immigrant who has had marathons of 80's movies to be able to relate with the Americans of my generation. I propose we give you a month to watch it before we VOTE YOU OFF GBCN
It's not really about watching it once. It's about watching it 50 times. Then 50 more.
Cause its one of those movies that gets better the more you watch it.
It's the kind of movie that gets you through two weeks of summer vacation when it rains the whole time and the TV doesn't have cable and one of the 3 VHS tapes is Princess Bride. And you leave thinking 'That was a great vacation.'
So, no. Don't watch it unless you can really commit.
I feel like the only reason someone could have for not seeing this is being behind the Iron Curtain. So all of you up there, who haven't seen it and were not east of that line... you fail at life.
i've never seen blazing saddles because my dad loved it and my mom was grossed out by it, so she won that war and had it on the banned list. i'll check it out.
the princess bride is the BEST. and inigo wins because he's a better swordsman and he's fueled by the power of revenge.
::whispers:: The book is even funnier than the movie
Not that I do not LOVE the movie
See, now I did not know this. I may have to read it.
It's really good and gives a lot more backstory on Inigo and Fezzik and several other characters. The only thing I don't like about the book more than the movie is that Buttercup is completely useless and insipid.

This post has made me want to watch the movie, which is what I am watching right now.
Those who haven't seen the movie, you should just because @kevin arnold is in it!
The other day DH got really excited because he realized he could say -"Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line"! because his family came from Sicily.

Ha! My H loves to pull the "never get involved in a land war in Asia" line when we play Risk
