On a mattress. He never slept in a crib. The mattress works awesome for us and he doesn't just wander off or anything because he's been sleeping on it long enough to know what it's for.
is he in your room though?
I just can't imagine closing the door to her room and having her FREE in there!! omg. I hope I begin to feel less horrified at the thought of this as time passes. Also, then we'll have to child proof her room too. Aaaahhhh!! I just can't do it.
Sorry kid, crib til your five.
No, I do sleep with him a lot though. The room is set up Montessori style and there isn't furniture to be concerned about either. It is safe, just as safe as a crib, except that he has the ability up when he needs. He won't get out of bed till the morning though. In the MOTN when he is upset he doesn't get out of bed, will just whine. He's been sleeping like this forever so he knows proper behavior. He knows what his bed is for and will climb right in when he's tired.
She's in a crib and will be until I kick her out for next baby. She'll be close to 2.5 then (we keep baby in the room for a while). We had to move Jameson at 18 months because he was consistently climbing out (he would leverage himself against the side and swing out) and he went into a twin bed with a rail. Not going to lie, it took a while for him to get used to it and involved some sleeping on the floor for naps and one incident of him taking all his clothes off and pooping on the floor. He is pretty good now, he'll just get out of bed and go to the bathroom if he needs to poop. The transition from him to a twin bed is what prompted us to get a video monitor. No childproof anything fazes him now, he can bust off any door handle and maneuver all the kitchen cabinet locks.
We moved him to a crib at 7 months some hasnt been in it for long. I plan tomkeepmhim into it u til he tries to escape. Hopefully after two yrs old. His crib converts to a toddler bed than a full bed.
