My band measured a 32.5, I would probably go with a 32 still correct? I have an old 32 d bra and I tried it on, and besides my titties jumping out the top, the band seemed painfully tight. Also I am in Canada, does this make a difference?
I will wait to buy a new bra though since I am pregnant and have no idea what these bitches will do next.
Since you're pregnant its definitely a good idea to wait before buying any non-nursing bras because you could end up a completely different band and cup size if you breastfeed. Was the old 32 an F cup? I'm assuming not, and that's where the difference lies. But like I said since you're pregnant, don't even bother trying to figure out regular bra sizing since your body is in a state of constant flux for now.

@fucksticklegit I have two very different sized boobs. My son only nurses from one side so I have a huge nursing boob and a tiny non-lactating one. Should I just wait until I ween and hope they even out, or is there some magic trick to make me fit in a normal bra and not look like a freak? According to the video I'm a 30DD???
eta: he's 14 months so they aren't changing until I ween, which will hopefully be soon...

Since you're breastfeeding, its best not to try and measure now, since its not a guarantee you'll stay the same size once you're finished breastfeeding.
If, once you have weaned, your breasts are a cup size or more different in size, you are supposed to fit the bra to your larger breast and use an insert in the smaller side's cup to fill it out more.
I measured 31" for the band (I'll move up to a 32 for ordering), but for the cup size (40") do I count the difference from the 31", or from 32"? I might just order bras in both sizes if I can't figure it out.

From the 32. So you'd be a 32G/H/J in US sizes or FF in UK.

Okay so according to my measuring I should be a 30DD. I am currently wearing a 34B. I am definitely NOT wanting to order anything online. I am VERY picky about my bras, I have never considered myself "well endowed" and breastfeeding 3 kids has NOT been kind to the girls, they need some SERIOUS padding and push-up action if I want them to not look like pancakes. Ugh, so what to do? I have never seen a size 30 band in the stores, I checked VS's website and it looks like their bands only go down to a 32... What if I went with a 32D, would that be the equivalent of a 30DD? This is so confusing...
If you can find a legitimate god's honest lingerie shop in your area, I would recommend seeing if you can get something custom made if its much less than a 28. What's your band measurement?
It's 25. I'm planning to find a proper store tomorrow to at least try a few on.
You could also try www.thelittlebracompany.com. Their smallest band size is a 28, BUT (from experience), they run pretty snug, so you may be able to get away with a 28 and maybe alter it down?

I'm a 30D/DD depending on the brand, and after trying on about a million bras, I settled on this guy:

Well, do you have a Nordstrom/Nordstrom rack near you? They carry plenty of 30 band sizes and you'll probably get the best assistance since you're picky.
VS is not only shit at measuring, their product is generally kind of shoddy so I wouldn't really recommend them anyway.
If you don't have a Nordstrom or Soma, look for a local lingerie shop.

I did find a Nordstom Rack nearby, I'm going to go check it out this afternoon. When I checked Nordstom online there was 1 bra in a 30DD/E and it was NOT the push-up kind. I hope the in-store selection is better.

I generally find that online selection is not at all indicative of in-store selection. And if they don't have something you want in your size, they'd probably be willing to order it for you.
Nordstrom is brilliant about ordering stuff for you. If they don't have it in-store, not only will they order it, but it will be shipped to you fo' free.
I don't know.....I am having trouble really believing this. The band of my 34D fits really well. Going down to a 30 (which is what this method gave me) seems insane. I could see maybe a 32.
The cup of the 34D is big (but a 34C is small) so I definitely see the band/cup ratio argument. But again, according to the guidelines she gives as a well-fitting band, the 34 band does fit. A 30 seems crazy tight.

So I'm assuming that you measured and got 30" for your band size. Remember that the measuring tape should be snug, but not cutting off circulation.
Did you measure a larger cup size this way or were you a D before and measured as a D now too? If not, the difference in going up in cup size + going down in band size compensates because if you're wearing the wrong size now the band is squishing tissue/fat that *should* be going into the cups when you scoop n' swoop.

This is what I initially thought too back when I figured out how to properly size my own tatas. I was wearing 32-34 Bs and Cs, and couldn't imagine wearing a 30.
Once I tried stuff on though, I was amazed at how the fit changed. The cup size will account for the difference in the band size, I promise. This way, all of your goods will be where they should be. My boobs looked perky and happy again, and even my posture improved.
just wondering... do you work somewhere where this is your job, or do you just magically KNOW all of this stuff that NONE of us have ever seemed to grasp. As my husband would say "did we just miss this day in girl school?"
Like I mentioned in at least three previous threads, I used to work for Lane Bryant long ago and was taught the most common INCORRECT way to measure for bras. I no longer work there or in any form of retail. I work in medical claims and am in school to become a nurse.
As for how I know this? I do my research. I like to know shit and found this video which I realized made a lot of sense (I'd always thought it was weird to measure for a bra, while wearing one already). I tried it out on myself, my mom, and some friends and its made a world of difference for everyone.
I don't have some MAGICAL BRA KNOWLEDGE passed down through the ages. I just read a lot.
So the whatsit in the middle between the boobs sits on my chest, the band in the back sits squarely in the middle if my back, no straps are cutting me and no muffin top on my boobs in the cups.
Why do I still need a new size? I am 34C.
*shrug* You don't. If everything fits you just fine then don't bother I guess. Most people however didn't realize their band was riding up in the back/their cups runneth over/they weren't getting the support they needed, etc. If you have none of these problems, just KOKO.
Measured as a 30DDD. Went to nordstroms rack and they didn't have any 30DDD so I tried on a 32DD. My boobs didn't quite fill out the DD but fit in 32Ds. Got 2 bras for $10 each! Woohoo!

Which brand is $10? I am going later to get fitted.

I know one of them was a Betsey Johnson. I can't remember the other brand.

Thank you! I'm not sure if I'm even measuring it tight enough, but those links will hopefully help/give me ideas.
Bookmarked! The SECOND my boobs fully deflate from weaning baby C, I am racing back to this thread and then going on a shopping spree!
My breasts deflated when I was finished, but seemed to reinflate over the next year. Not to the ginormous size they were when nursing, but they became well-rounded again. You might want to hold off on the spree and just pick up a couple.

I went to find a local shop and it wasn't where it was supposed to be. Now I'm sad. I was looking forward to better fitting bras and good looking boobs.
@fucksticklegit I wandered in here from MM, and even posted the video on my local page. I measured, and it's not really jiving with me. Do you think there is a wider margin of error the bigger the boobies are? Right now I wear a 40G, and I meet all of her requirements except for the gore hitting my chest. No quad-boob, back/pit spillage, underwire pokage... But when I measured I came up with...
are you sitting down? For realz. I am about to bust out a size that could qualify me for one of those TLC shows.
48L. If I wore a 48 band size, I cannot even imagine how much room I would have in the back. And in the cup, I would probably be able to hide an army of ninja kittens. I have big boobs, I get that, but *that* big? No effin way! I attribute this to having really long, saggy boobs. I don't have the volume that would necessitate a bra that big.

So, should I just hang in my 40G? SAVE MY BOOBS!!
Most people notice a 1-2 band size difference, not 8. Did you make sure to measure up *under* your breasts tightly around your ribcage for the band? You're the only person I know of who has had this, so I feel like there must be an error somewhere here.
