Yes. Totally a real bird. There used to be one that would come to my office door just about daily to come grab something yummy he'd see around the door. No idea what it was but good word it scared the living crap out of me every time.
ETA: My nature experience during a run would probably be when I was running and saw something running up ahead. I think it was a skunk. I made sure to stay far behind it. Ha

Well, luckily I never encountered him but this 140-lb guy was hanging out in the park where I regularly run. In an urban neighborhood less than 5 miles from downtown Seattle. They think he followed the railroad tracks down from the North Cascades.

Hi, I'm new. :::waves to board:::
While skating or biking on the bike path near my house, I regularly see: roadrunners (once they were mating), snakes, rabbits, coyotes and countless lizards. I've seen tons of bobcats while hiking or mountain biking, and once saw a mountain lion walking down a street right in the middle of town. The scariest thing, while hiking, was coming across fresh bear tracks and the remains of whatever it had just killed. We got the hell out of there. Also, where we used to camp, we saw GIANT cat paw prints. It has since been confirmed that the only known jaguar in the US lives in that area.
