What are we all doing on LO's toothbrushes? I just saw Beener's response in the tantrum post and she mentioned toothpaste. oops, we are still just using water on his brush...and truth be told we can hardly even get the toothbrush in there to even touch his teeth? Those who are still using just water, when do you plan on adding toothpaste?
For mobile folks: 1) Nothing but water 2) Regular Toothpaste 3) Children's toothpaste (Fluoride Free) 4) Peanut Butter, why not?
Water. I was just at the dentist 2 weeks ago and asked, and they said water is still fine right now. And to introduce children's later... in a few months or so.
As much as I want to say peanut butter, we're using Earth's Best children's toothpaste. He's much more cooperative than he was with just water, since he likes the flavor.

This. He likes the taste, so he's much more willing to let me in his mouth.

hm...I should buy some kiddie toothpaste and it might help me to get him to open his mouth. You would 'think' that this second time mom would remember when to do things like this, nope. You know what, I bet his daycare uses kiddie stuff, oops.
We do baby no-fluoride stuff because he drinks fluoridated water regularly.
We, however, don't brush twice a day. Not fighting that battle over 5.5 teeth. We do have water out of a big boy cup in the morning. I pretend like that is helpful.
We do about half with fluoride-free toothpaste and half with water. She loves brushing her teeth so we have a toothbrush upstairs in our bathroom where we use kids' toothpaste and one downstairs where we just have her use water.

As luck would have it, we use the stuff with Elmo on it. He liked it before. Loves it now that he knows who Elmo is. When he brushes his own teeth while I brush, it's water only though.

Definitely toothpaste. Flouride free for now but will switch to flouride when this tube is done. They mostly have well water, so they need it. Especially if they have my genes!
Edie is on flouride toothpaste. He hates mint. She says it's spicey and make her cough. Toms strawberry has flouride and no mint taste! I've tried them all.

We just use the kind that came with the toothbrush, I think it's fruit flavored. I give her the toothbrush and she just wants to suck all of the toothpaste off so it must taste good.

Florida free children's. She has 13 teeth, working on 14 and 15. We need it! Since she has so many teeth we definitely brush every night a d are going to start morning and night when school starts up again so we can establish the routine easier.

We are only doing once a day too. Even though I know it's not true, I have in my mind that little kids only have to brush once per day b/c that is what I did as a kid. lol. Sometimes she wants to suck on her toothbrush in the morning when I'm fixing her hair, so I let her.
Good distraction idea that has benefits, I will try that tomorrow!

I grew up on well water and my mom was nuts about fluoride toothpaste. Plus whenever we were somewhere on city water she would make us drink so much water!!!!

We have city water at our house but MIL has well water. And that's where they do the most of their drinking.
