Personal preference, I guess. That would not bother me at all. I wish more races gave out cotton shirts, I'd actually get some use out of them. If her race shirt was a mock neck, she wouldn't have needed that scarf.

I am the total opposite. I rarely even pick up the cotton tees. I'll also have extra motivation so to sign up for a race if it offers a tech tee.

Last year at the expo, I overheard one of the Brooks people saying that they tried to convince MCM to let them supply the official race shirt (a long-sleeved tech shirt), but MCM said the cotton mock-neck was a "tradition" and that people really like it. I was thinking, who are these people??? Did they do a survey? Where is this coming from?

Yeah, I'm in the minority. I hate tech tees. I can't stand having things on my arms like short sleeve shirts, and I'm really not a fan of tech material. I run in tanks until it's cold, and then I bring a lightweight long sleeve. They just sit in a box. If I had cotton shirts, I'd wear them with jeans on the weekends.
ETA: For the record, I get the mock neck dislike. I'd much rather a basic scoop neck. And yeah, that particular shirt isn't the best looking.

I'll be looking for my feedback survey, postrace & recommend reassessing the race shirt. And will definitely purchase a tech tee.
I can't get over the little monogrammed MCM on the mock neck. Is it the same design every year? Please tell me they at least do a different color for the men!
Meh, I like mine from last year and have worn it on occasion, not usually for running. It's great for staying warm in the winter! It just makes me feel badass.
I did MCM in 08 and I don't remember any ugly cotton mock neck grandpa shirts...I have a decent (unisex) LS tech tee from the race but maybe I bought it at the expo? I don't remember. I would think that if I'd chosen and purchased it myself, I would've gotten a ladies cut. Hmm.
I don't mind cotton race shirts, but have NO use for a cotton mock neck!
clseale I believe it is the same design every year, but it's a different color. and no. there is no sepearte color for men and women. nor is there seperate sizing for women.
shelbyann I ran MCM in 08 and I def got a mock neck cotton ls shirt in army green.
ebeth - now that you say that, it rings a bell. I think it went into a goodwill donation pile immediately. Did they also do a navy tech shirt with white and red writing? That's what I have...although based on the previous posts it sounds like I probably bought it at the expo.

no idea! I didn't buy anything. you would have thought that I would have gone all buckwild crazy since it was my first full, but not one thin dime. I don't think I've ever gotten anything but clearance running clothes/shoes and gu et al. at a race expo

Well every single bit of this extra info sucks. I edit my opinion to be: Still love cotton race shirts, but everything else about this race shirt sucks.
