He can technically use either since they don't have official last names. My guess is it depends on when QEII passes if its before he starts school and William is POW then wales, if not likely Cambridge since he is known as Prince George of Cambridge.
I kind of think by the time he is in school William may be Prince of Wales (if Charles names him that once he becomes king of course).
In like 5 years? Not a chance. I'm with Jenni, that bitch is going to outlive us all (bless her heart).
hey you never know! Margaret died relatively young compared to her sister and mother. But I do enjoy the queen so hope she sticks around for a while :-)

back in 1960, The Queen decreed that her descendants who are not Princes or Princesses of the United Kingdom would use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor. At this point only Lady Louise uses it officially. Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, signed the registry at her first wedding using Mountbatten-Windsor.
This is probably part of the reason The Queen came forth and said that any child of either sex born to the Cambridges would use the style Prince/Princess.

Margo burned the candle at both ends. It's amazing she died as old as she did.

Margaret was also a heavy smoker and drinker and didn't exactly take care of herself. i expect Charles will live at least as long as QEII has so be King for some period of time.
and they will Never bypass Charles in favor of William it's just not the way it works. Charles would have to abdicate and that is a huge No-No in the royal family since QEII and her mom and sister blame the abdication if the Duke of Windsor for her Father's early death. This is why QEII has not and likely will not abdicate like other older monarchs have lately.
Well they'll get a queen before that, her mother will be queen.
Right! Which is actually pretty cool that the hieress apparent birthed a heiress apparent. How often does that happen? Also her husband took her last name! Why don't we spend more time on this royal family?
Yeah, he can use Cambridge, Wales or Mountbatten-Windsor. But really, until maaaaybe he's in school he won't need to use a last name. William and Harry use it mostly for their military service.

And also the future queen married her personal trainer!!! The Brits would never do that!

Even if none of this were true, I would expect the chances of Chazzy voluntarily abdicating to be about on par with my becoming Queen of England. I kind of love how unapologetically whiny he is about the fact his mother hasn't kicked it yet.

I dunno! I love them so lets look at more pictures LOL. I seriously think CP Victoria is one of the most beautiful women in the world.
Princess Estelle's mother is the crown princess of Sweden, too. Actually, she's the oldest child - Sweden has straight-out primogeniture - but when her younger brother was born, it was still a male-priority monarchy. So her brother was the Crown Prince until he was 8 months old or so and then the legislature changed the law and made it applicable to Victoria and her brother, Carl-Phillip. Supposedly her father was pissed. I think mostly that they changed it after he had a son and made it retroactive, but maybe he's also an asshole.
AND Victoria is godmother to lots of little royals, including some who will become queen someday - Princess Ingrid of Norway, Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Princess Amalia of the Netherlands.

YES I love this too. It's kind of amusing to me.
I remember there was a lot of buzz maybe mid-to-late 90s about the Queen "skipping" charles but the stuff I read about it was more like "she would ask him to abdicate." That was kind of when the monarchy was super unpopular. like pp said she can't just "skip him" because she wants to, and the general consensus was that he just would not abdicate. he has trained his whole life to be King.
And then obviously with will and kate the monarchy has become uber popular again and Charles himself has started becoming a lot more likeable, and I get the impression the british people have welcomed camilla more strongly than had been anticipated (at last at this stage in time).
